The Birthday Present

It's Hope's birthday and everyone from the Supersquad visits her at home. They have a barbeque at her garden.

Lizzie and Cleo are in the kitchen preparing everything for the barbeque.
"Okay, we've got the coleslaw, we got the buns..."
"We've got the meat"

Mg and Kaleb walk inside the kitchen.
"Men are here." Kaleb says
"We make fire." MG says pointing at Kaleb and him.
"Cook meat."
"Then put out fire by peeing. Not getting invited back."
Both Lizzie and Cleo laugh at their boyfriends behaviour.
They help the girls bringing everything outside.

Meanwhile, Hope is upstairs in her bedroom talking to Landon on her phone.

Landon is a work colleague of hope's who has shown interest in her and recently asked her out on a date. They have been getting to know each other ever since.
Unfortunately, he can't be there for her birthday because he's visiting his parents in New York.

"Hey Hope, I wanted to wish you a happy birthday. I'm sorry I can't wish you happy birthday in person."

"It's okay Landon. Have fun with your family. My friends are already there to celebrate with me."

"When I get back, I could ask you out on a date. As a little payback."

"That sounds good. I'm already looking forward to it. I have to hang up now, the others are probably already waiting for me. I'll see you then."

"All right, see you then."

Meanwhile downstairs, while Hope was talking on the phone with Landon, Josie came as well to her birthday party.
She goes inside the living room leaving her suitcase next to the front door.

"Hey guys."

Everyone turns around, they walk up to her and hug her.
Lizzie speaks up first. "Jo, you're finally here, what took you so long?"

Before Josie could respond Mg speaks up and asks "Better question, why did you bring your suitcase with you?"
Kaleb asks "Yeah, where are you going?"

Josie chuckles at her friends.
"I'm going to Japan. I've a a few business meetings there, so I'll be gone for two weeks.
So if you want to reach me, you can't. I'll be pretty busy there."

Cleo speaks up. "Oh, that's to bad. Why do you have to go?"
Josie responds, "Well, I'm kind of the only one who speaks japanese fluently and I'm a trusting and reliable person, so that's why I'm the one who's flying to Japan. Hoping to make a few deals in that period of time."

"So when is your flight Jo?" Jed asks.
Josie looks at her watch and looks back up to Jed and the other.
"In about three hours. I still had to wrap Hope's birthday present and pack a few things into my suitcase. That's why I'm a bit late for the party and that's why I don't have time to celebrate Hope's birthday with you all."

She walks back to her suitcase and her handbag and reaches for her present.
"Speaking of Hope, do you know where she is? I wanted to give her my present and wish her a happy birthday before I leave."

Cleo speaks up first. "Hope's upstairs in her bedroom. I think she's talking to Landon."
Josie looks a bit confused, cause she never heard of him.
"Who's Landon?"
Lizzie sees how Josie's smile fades and answers, "Oh, he's just acolleague, who she went on a date with once. But he's an completely idiot, if you ask me. I can't understand what she sees in him. I don't think that will last long."

Josie's eyebrows raise slightly at Lizzie's bluntness, but she doesn't comment on it. Instead, she picks up the present she brought for Hope and glances toward the stairs.
