As Josie stormed down the hallway, Hope's heart raced with desperation. She tried to follow her, but Landon's hand shot out, grabbing her arm.
"Hope, wait!" Landon pleaded. "I didn't know you'd moved on. I'm sorry. I truly am."
Hope turned sharply to face him, her eyes blazing with anger. "You think a half-hearted apology is going to fix this?"
Landon's face was a mixture of regret and confusion. "I didn't realize—"
Hope's frustration boiled over. With a swift, sharp motion, she slapped him across the face. The sound of the slap echoed in the hallway, and Landon staggered back, his face reddening.
"I hate you!" Hope shouted, her voice breaking. "You've ruined everything. I'm happy with Josie. In these few days, she's made me happier than you ever did in our entire relationship."
Landon's eyes were wide with shock and hurt, but Hope's words were unwavering. "You should fly back home. I don't want to see you again. Not now, not ever."
Landon's shoulders slumped as he took in the weight of her words. "Hope, please—"
"No," Hope interrupted, her voice firm. "It's over. Leave us alone."
With that, Hope turned and ran after Josie, her heart pounding as she sought to make things right. Meanwhile, Landon stood in the hallway, feeling the full impact of his mistakes and the finality of Hope's rejection. He watched helplessly as she disappeared around the corner, knowing that he had irrevocably damaged their relationship.
Hope arrived at the elevator, but it seemed to take forever to arrive. Panicking, she decided to take the stairs. She hurried down, her heart racing with each step, and burst out into the hotel lobby. Frantically, she looked around for Josie, but there was no sign of her.
Desperate, Hope raced towards the pool area, hoping to find Josie there. Her breaths came in sharp, anxious gasps as she scanned the area, but Josie was nowhere to be seen.
With a sinking feeling, Hope dashed back to the reception desk. "Did you see a tall woman with brown hair? She was here just a moment ago."
The receptionist nodded, pointing towards the door. "She was at the pool area and then walked out of the hotel."
"Thank you!" Hope said, her voice trembling. She bolted outside, her eyes scanning the streets and nearby cafes, searching for any sign of Josie.
Hope's phone rang in her hand, but there was no answer. In her desperation, she left a voicemail, her voice filled with distress. "Baby, please call me back. It's not what it looked like. I was on my way to my room to grab my phone, and then I saw him at the reception. He followed me to my room and kissed me without my consent. I didn't understand what happened at the moment he kissed me. Please call me back. I'm outside of the hotel and looking for you everywhere. I'm scared that something could happen to you."
Hope ended the message and tried calling Josie again, but the call went straight to voicemail. She continued her frantic search, her mind racing with worry. She moved quickly through the streets, checking every corner and asking passers by if they had seen Josie. The fear of not knowing where Josie was or if she was safe consumed her, and Hope's determination to find her only grew stronger with each passing moment.
As twilight deepened into evening, Hope's search became increasingly desperate. The streets were now quiet, and the cafes were closing, but there was still no sign of Josie. With the sky growing darker, Hope decided to check the beach, hoping the familiar surroundings might lead her to Josie.
She walked along the beach, her heart heavy with worry, her footsteps muffled by the sand. The beach was mostly deserted, with only the sound of the waves crashing gently against the shore. Hope's eyes scanned the horizon, her hope dwindling with each step.
