In a world where the seas are ruled by fierce pirates and treacherous tides, two women from vastly different worlds find themselves drawn together by fate and the call of adventure. Hope Mikaelson, a notorious pirate captain known for her ruthlessness and cunning, commands her ship, The Crescent Moon, with an iron fist. Fearless and determined, she lives by her own rules, with a past she never speaks of and a heart she claims is as cold as the ocean she sails on.
Josie Saltzman, on the other hand, is a woman of grace and intellect, the daughter of a wealthy merchant who has been sheltered from the dangers of the world. She's kind-hearted and curious, with a fascination for the sea and the stories of the pirates that roam it. However, her life takes an unexpected turn when her father's ship is attacked by Hope's crew during a perilous voyage.
Josie's world is turned upside down when she's taken captive by Hope's crew. Bound and brought aboard The Crescent Moon, she's dragged to the deck where Hope stands, her long coat billowing in the wind, and her eyes like steel. The crew watches with bated breath as their captain approaches the prisoner.
Hope looks Josie up and down, her expression unreadable. "Who are you?" she asks, her voice cold.
"Josie Saltzman," Josie replies, lifting her chin defiantly despite her fear. "Daughter of Alaric Saltzman."
Hope's eyes flicker with recognition at the name. "Alaric Saltzman, the merchant? Your father is a rich man. A very rich man."
Josie's heart races. "He'll pay you whatever you want for my safe return."
Hope's lips curve into a smirk. "I'm not interested in gold, sweetheart. I'm interested in you."
The crew murmurs in surprise, but they quickly fall silent as Hope's icy gaze sweeps over them. She steps closer to Josie, her voice lowering to a whisper. "You're not just any prisoner, Josie. You're a bargaining chip—a way to strike a deal that could change everything. Take her below deck. We'll deal with her father's ransom demands later."."
Josie swallows hard. She's heard the stories about Hope Mikaelson, the pirate who leaves nothing but destruction in her wake. But as she looks into Hope's eyes, she sees something she didn't expect—sadness, and maybe a hint of something more. Hope turns away, barking orders to her crew as they prepare to set sail. Josie's is mind racing with questions.
Days passed aboard The Crescent Moon, and Josie found herself in a strange position—neither a guest nor a prisoner, but something in between. The crew mostly left her alone, though she could feel their eyes on her whenever she ventured onto the deck. She spent her time observing them, trying to learn more about the woman who led them with such authority.
Hope was a constant presence, always at the helm or overseeing the ship's operations. Despite her reputation, she was calm and methodical, never losing her temper even in the face of adversity. It was clear that her crew respected her deeply, and Josie couldn't help but be impressed.
One evening, as the sun began to set, casting the sky in hues of orange and pink, Josie found herself standing at the edge of the deck, gazing out at the horizon. She didn't notice Hope approaching until the captain spoke.
"You've been unusually quiet," Hope said, her tone unreadable.
Josie turned to face her, trying to ignore the way her heart skipped a beat. "There's not much to say when you're a captive."
Hope raised an eyebrow. "And yet, you haven't tried to escape. Or begged for your freedom."
"What would be the point?" Josie replied, her voice soft. "You'd just catch me again."
Hope's eyes softened slightly, and for a moment, Josie thought she saw a flicker of something—regret, maybe—in the captain's gaze. "You're smarter than most of the captives we've had."
