The soft morning light filtered through the curtains as Hope slowly stirred awake. For a brief moment, she didn't realize where she was, but then she felt the warmth, the familiar scent of Josie beside her, and everything came rushing back.
She was wrapped in Josie's arms, their legs intertwined beneath the sheets, her body pressed comfortably against hers. The steady rhythm of Josie's breathing was like a soothing melody, grounding Hope in the present. She blinked away the remnants of sleep, her gaze settling on the peaceful expression on Josie's face.
Josie looked so calm, her lips slightly parted, her long dark hair spread across the pillow like a halo. Hope's heart ached with tenderness as she studied her—how had she been so blind for so long? How had she not seen what was right in front of her? Josie, her best friend, her constant, had always been there, quietly loving her.
Careful not to wake her, Hope reached up and gently brushed a strand of hair from Josie's face, tucking it behind her ear. Her fingers lingered, tracing the soft curve of Josie's cheek. She couldn't resist the overwhelming pull of affection surging through her, and before she knew it, she was leaning down, pressing the softest of kisses to Josie's forehead.
Hope's lips traveled lightly across Josie's face—her temple, her cheeks, her nose—each kiss filled with all the things she wished she had known earlier, all the love that had been quietly growing inside her for years. When she finally reached Josie's lips, she hesitated for just a second, savoring the moment, before kissing her gently.
Josie stirred slightly at the touch of Hope's lips, her body unconsciously pressing closer, her arms tightening around Hope in her sleep. Hope smiled into the kiss, feeling a warmth spread through her chest.
As she pulled back slightly, she whispered softly, almost to herself, "How could I have been so blind? You've always been the one, Josie."
Josie's eyes fluttered open, her gaze sleepy but filled with warmth as she focused on Hope. A slow, dreamy smile spread across her lips, and her hand reached up to cup Hope's face. "Good Morning," Josie whispered, her voice husky with sleep.
"Good Morning Love," Hope replied, her voice soft, filled with emotion. She kissed Josie again, this time letting it linger a little longer, savoring the feeling of finally being where she belonged.
Josie sighed contentedly when they parted, her thumb brushing lightly over Hope's cheek. "That was a nice way to wake up," she said, a playful glint in her eyes.
Hope laughed softly, her heart swelling. "I couldn't help myself."
Josie chuckled, her hand still resting on Hope's face. "I'm not complaining." She pulled Hope closer, their foreheads touching, her voice growing serious for a moment. "I'm so glad we're here now. Together."
"Me too," Hope whispered, her heart full. She knew that from now on, she would never take a single moment with Josie for granted.
They stayed like that for a while, wrapped up in each other, knowing that whatever challenges life threw their way, they would face them together. Finally, after all the years of missed opportunities and unspoken feelings, they had found their way to each other. And it felt like home.
Hope grinned mischievously, her eyes glinting with affection as she slowly shifted, climbing on top of Josie like a koala clinging to a tree. She wrapped her arms tightly around Josie's torso and nestled her face into the crook of Josie's neck, letting out a contented sigh.
Josie laughed, the sound warm and musical, as she instinctively wrapped her arms around Hope in return. "Well, this is a nice surprise," Josie said, her fingers gently tracing up and down Hope's back.
