The sun was setting over Mystic Falls, casting a warm glow over the homes nestled within the town. In two separate houses, two best friends were lost in their thoughts, each grappling with the same swirling emotions.
Hope Mikaelson sat on her bed, her guitar resting on her lap. She strummed absently, the familiar chords filling the room as she hummed a melody that had been on her mind for days. Her thoughts were consumed by Josie Saltzman, her best friend since childhood. She tried to ignore the fluttering in her chest, but it was impossible. Every time she thought of Josie, her heart felt like it was ready to burst.
Across the street, Josie was in a similar state of mind. Her guitar was cradled in her arms as she softly strummed, her voice carrying the same melody that had been looping in her head. She couldn't shake the feeling that she had to tell Hope how she truly felt. But the fear of losing their friendship held her back. She couldn't help but think of Hope every moment of the day, and the more she thought about her, the more she realized how deep her feelings ran.
As the evening grew darker, the two friends began singing the same song, their voices melding into the night air, though separated by miles. The lyrics they sang spoke to the heart of their shared emotions, their unspoken desires.
Happy- NeverShoutNever
Josie:
"You make me happy, whether you know it or not We should be happy, that's what I said from the start I am so happy, knowing you are the one That I want for the rest of my days For the rest of my days You're all of my days"
Josie's voice was soft, filled with longing. She paused, her fingers lingering on the guitar strings, her mind drifting to the moments she had spent with Hope. She imagined telling her how she felt, but the words always seemed to catch in her throat.
Hope:
"You're lookin' so cool, you're lookin' so fly I can't deny that when I'm staring You down, right dead in the eye I wanna try to be the person you want The person you need It's hard to conceive That somebody like you could be with Someone like me"
Hope's voice carried the same mix of hope and doubt. She wished she could be the person Josie deserved, the one who could bring her the happiness she saw in her dreams. She strummed the guitar a little harder, trying to drive away the fears of rejection that clouded her mind.
As the chorus approached, their voices unknowingly blended into one as they sang:
Both:
"I'm happy knowing that you are mine The grass is greener on the other si-ide The more I think, the more I wish That we could lay here for hours, and just-a reminisce Uh Ooo Oooo"
It was as if their emotions had transcended the physical distance between them. The connection was palpable, even though they were in separate rooms, far from each other.
Josie's voice wavered slightly as she sang the bridge:
Josie:
"On the good, the bad, the ugly The smiles, the laughs, the funny Or all the things we put each other through It's for you, for you, for you"
The weight of her words hit her deeply. She knew she wanted to be with Hope, despite the fears and uncertainties.
Hope's voice joined the chorus again:
Both:
"You make me happy, whether you know it or not
We should be happy, that's what I said from the start
I am so happy, knowing you are the one
That I want for the rest of my days
For the rest of my days"
