Mirow (Northern Germany)

Under a blue sky, a soldier in uniform rides along a bridge over a moat. He passes a gate. The view follows him to a gravelled area with a fountain in the middle. A castle rises behind it. A golden carriage is parked in front of the castle. Maids look bashfully in the direction of the footmen, who are waiting in line in front of the carriage and watching the maids.

In the castle, a woman walks through a dark hallway. She stops and looks around cautiously before sneaking up to one of the doors.
The woman bites her lower lip and peers through a crack between the two doors into a room at two men, one with brown hair and one with gray hair. The two look at a paper that the one with brown hair is holding. The woman looks curious at them.
The man with brown hair signs a text on the page with a quill. The woman looks anxiously at the men who are shaking each other's hands.
She lowers her gaze and turns away, walking a short distance away from the doors.
She angrily pushes a sculpture off its pedestal. The noise alerts the two men.
The woman hastily runs away as the two men rush out of the room.

The young woman now steps out of the castle, smiling intently at her maids and the lackeys who are standing in a row on the stairs. The woman turns around with a serious expression and lets her gaze wander over the castle facade. She turns away from the castle and focuses her gaze on the carriage. The brown-haired man, her father, stands in front of the carriage. They both get into the carriage and drive off.

In the carriage the woman looks out the window.
Over a corset studded with precious stones, she wears a gray-blue jacket with a wide collar and a hat.
Her father, in a shiny, embroidered purple frock coat and a pointed scarf, looks at the young woman.

"You give the appearance of a statue." her father says

"Statues are works of art. Art is beautiful."

"Art can be beautiful to gaze upon. You are ridiculous to the eye."

The woman scoffs "Is there a point?"

"You have not moved an inch in six hours."

"I am wearing Lyonnais silk, encrusted with Indian sapphires, working with overlay of 200-years-old lace. Apparently too much movement can cause the sapphires to shred the lace. If that were not enough, the gown sits atop a bespoke underpinning made of whalebone." the woman says annoyed

"Whalebone?" her father asks

"Yes. Whalebone, Father. The bones of whales. Whales died, so I could look like this. All the finest corsets are whalebone. You'd know that if you knew anything. If you ever paid attention you would also know that the Problem with whalebone is that it is rather delicate and also very, very sharp. And, of course, I'm in the height of fashion, so this corset is quite snug.
So I give the appearance of a statue, ridiculous to the eye, but that is because I cannot move. And because I must arrive on display, I am forced into a ludicrous gown so stylish that if I move too much, I might be sliced and stabbed to death by my undergarments.
Oh, how joyful it is to be a lady." She looks away from her father.

"You're upset." her father says after what his daughter told him.

"It's a viable option I have considered. Moving. Choosing to be killed by my undergarments." she says while still looking away from her father.
