In the dimly lit corridors of the Salvatore School for the Young and Gifted, Hope Mikaelson's heart was heavier than ever. Josie Saltzman had returned to the school, but things were far from how they used to be. The air between them was tense, filled with the weight of unspoken words and unresolved emotions.

Hope had tried to talk to Josie the moment she saw her, desperate to mend the rift between them. She had approached her in the library, her voice soft and filled with regret. "Josie, can we talk? I need to apologize."

Josie had looked up from her book, her eyes cool and guarded. "I need time, Hope," she had replied, her tone distant. "I can't do this right now."

Hope had nodded, understanding but heartbroken. "I get it," she had said, her voice barely above a whisper. "I'll give you the space you need."

Days turned into weeks, and Hope kept her promise. She watched Josie from afar, her heart aching with the desire to make things right. She wanted to tell her how much she cared, how much she regretted pushing her away. But she respected Josie's need for distance, hoping that time would heal the wounds she had caused.

One evening, unable to bear the silence any longer, Hope found herself drawn to the grand piano in the main hall. Music had always been her escape, her way of expressing what words could not. She sat down, her fingers gently brushing the keys. She began to play, a haunting melody, which filling the air. Her voice, soft and filled with emotion, carried through the hall.

-Love Is Gone by SLANDER ft. Dylan Matthew-

Don't go tonight
Stay here one more time
Remind me what it's like, oh
And let's fall in love one more time
I need you now by my side
It tears me up when you turn me down
I'm begging please, just stick around
I'm sorry, don't leave me, I want you here with me
I know that your love is gone
I can't breathe, I'm so weak, I know this isn't easy
Don't tell me that your love is gone
That your love is gone
I'm sorry, don't leave me, I want you here with me
I know that your love is gone
I can't breathe, I'm so weak, I know this isn't easy
Don't tell me that your love is gone
That your love is gone
Don't tell me that your love is gone
That your love is gone
Don't tell me that your love is gone
That your love is gone
That your love is gone
I know this isn't easy (easy)
That your love is gone

-End of the song-

Josie had been walking down the hall, intending to clear her mind with a late-night stroll. The sound of the piano stopped her in her tracks. She recognized the song, and more importantly, she recognized the voice. Hope's voice, so raw and full of pain, echoed through the empty halls, drawing her closer.

She approached the main hall, her steps silent as she moved towards the door. She stayed hidden, her heart pounding as she listened to the words that seemed to speak directly to her soul.

Hope's voice cracked slightly, the pain of unspoken words evident in every note. She poured her soul into the song, her fingers moving effortlessly over the keys. She sang of love and loss, of regret and the aching desire for another chance. Each word was a confession, a plea for forgiveness that she could never voice aloud.

Josie's anger began to melt away, replaced by a deep, aching sadness. She realized how much she had missed Hope, how much she still loved her despite everything. The walls she had built around her heart started to crumble as she listened to the song that seemed to be written for her.

Hope finished the song, her hands falling from the keys as tears streamed down her face. She had finally admitted to herself that she loved Josie, but the fear of rejection kept her silent. She couldn't bear the thought of pushing Josie away again, so she resolved to give her the space she needed, even if it meant keeping her feelings hidden.

Josie couldn't stay hidden any longer. She stepped into the hall, her eyes meeting Hope's. The room was filled with a silence that spoke volumes. Hope's eyes widened in surprise, her breath catching in her throat.

"Josie," she whispered, her voice barely audible.

Josie walked towards her, each step filled with determination. "I heard you," she said softly. "Every word."

Hope looked down, her hands trembling. "I'm sorry, Josie. I never meant to hurt you. I just...I didn't know how to tell you."

Josie reached out, lifting Hope's chin so their eyes met. "You don't have to apologize anymore, Hope. I understand why you did what you did."

Hope's heart raced as she saw the understanding in Josie's eyes, the glimmer of hope that maybe, just maybe, things could be different. "I was scared," Hope admitted, her voice trembling. "Scared of losing you, scared of my own feelings."

Josie smiled softly, her eyes filled with a mix of sadness and affection. "I was scared too. But being apart from you made me realize how much I care about you. How much I love you."

Hope's breath hitched at the words she had longed to hear. "I love you too, Josie," she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "I've always loved you."

The silence that followed was filled with a thousand unspoken words, a shared understanding that bridged the gap between them. Josie took a step closer, her hand reaching out to cup Hope's cheek. "Then let's stop being scared," she murmured.

Hope nodded, tears of relief and joy welling up in her eyes. "No more running," she agreed.

Their faces were inches apart, the air between them charged with electricity. Josie leaned in, her lips meeting Hope's in a tender, lingering kiss. It was a kiss filled with all the words they had never said, all the feelings they had kept hidden for so long.

As they pulled back, their foreheads resting against each other, they both knew that this was a new beginning. The future was still uncertain, but with Josie by her side, Hope felt like she could face anything.

In that moment, the music in the hall was replaced by the sound of two hearts beating as one. And as they stood there, wrapped in each other's embrace, the world outside seemed to fade away. The future was theirs to write, and with their love rekindled, they knew they would face it together.
