Hope Mikaelson had faced many fears in her life, but nothing terrified her more than this moment. She sat by Josie's hospital bed, watching as the woman she loved grew weaker with each passing day. Decades had gone by since the day Josie said she didn't want to turn—didn't want to become a heretic and live forever. Hope and Lizzie tried to understand, tried to respect Josie's decision, but as the years passed, it became harder. Hope had never imagined she'd have to live without her.

Josie had lived a full life, becoming the brilliant doctor she always dreamed of being, helping others with a quiet kindness and a wisdom that only grew with age. But now, after Alaric had long passed, Josie's time had come too.

The entire Super Squad visited her, each one saying their goodbyes, tears in their eyes as they thanked her for everything. But now, it was just Hope and Josie. Hope couldn't bring herself to say goodbye.

Josie, frail and tired, still managed a soft smile as she reached up to stroke Hope's cheek. Her hand was cool, her touch gentle, yet filled with a love that hadn't faded with time. "I'll never leave you," Josie whispered, her voice weak but filled with conviction. "I'll always be with you, watching over you. Because I love you, Hope."

Hope's throat tightened. "I love you too," she said, her voice trembling. "I just wish we had more time."

Josie's eyes fluttered closed for a moment before she opened them again, locking her gaze with Hope's. "We will," she promised. "We'll have all the time in the world when we meet again... in peace. You are my peace, Hope. I'll be waiting for you, no matter how long it takes."

Hope noticed Josie's breaths becoming shallower, her strength slipping away. She leaned in closer, tears stinging her eyes. "Close your eyes," she whispered, her voice breaking. "Just... close your eyes."

Josie did as she asked, her fingers still entwined with Hope's.

Suddenly, they were no longer in the sterile hospital room. Hope found herself standing in the middle of a grand, beautifully lit ballroom. Josie, young and vibrant again, stood across from her, wearing a stunning dress that shimmered under the lights. She looked just as she had in her prime, her dark hair flowing, her smile radiant.

Josie turned at the sound of footsteps, her heart leaping when she saw Hope approaching. Hope, in a flowing gown of her own, smiled softly as she reached out her hand. "May I have this dance?" she asked, her voice filled with tenderness.

Josie smiled through the tears that threatened to spill. "Of course." She took Hope's hand, and they moved together, their bodies fitting perfectly as they swayed to the soft melody of "Perfect" by Ed Sheeran. The world around them faded as they held each other, Hope's hand gently resting on Josie's hip while Josie's arms looped around Hope's neck. They leaned into each other, their foreheads touching, the closeness so natural, so right.

Hope's voice was a whisper against Josie's skin. "I love you so much. I don't want to let you go."

Josie's breath hitched as she whispered back, "You don't have to. I'll never leave your side. I promise."

But as they danced, she pressed her lips to Josie's in a desperate kiss, pouring every ounce of love into it.Hope could feel Josie weakening, the world around them beginning to dim. Josie's legs buckled, and Hope caught her, cradling her as Josie's eyes fluttered shut. "Josie, no..." Hope pleaded, her heart breaking. But when she pulled away, everything went dark.

Hope was back in the hospital room, tears streaming down her face as she clutched Josie's hand. "Please, wait for me, my love," Hope sobbed. "I'll find my way back to you. I promise."

The others came into the room, their own tears falling as they saw Hope's grief, the weight of Josie's loss hanging heavy in the air. They cried together, but in her heart, Hope held onto Josie's promise—no matter how long it took, they would find each other again.
