Cupid (DNF + Karlnap)

Chapter 2: New Clients

Karl POV.

We stood in front of the head Cupid, Sapnap had finally folded his wings behind his back and his head was lowered in respect. The head angel was in his office, having a floor to ceiling window which gave an incredible view of the city. My gave was focusing on that as we waited for the head angel to speak.

“ᛊᚨᛈᚾᚨᛈ, ᚴᛅᚱᛚ, thank you both for coming back in.” The head angel ᛒᚼᛁᛚᛋᛅ said. He was a blond angel with black wings, dressed in green robes. He was the head of cupids, organising each of us and which humans we were meant to help.
“Any time sir.” Sapnap said. “We were on down time and were wanting to watch the wedding.”

“I apologise for that.” The blond murmured. “I understand that it does feel quite satisfying to see all of your work paying off with a wedding. Back when I was in the field it was the best thing to do.” His hands held each other. “ᚴᚱᛁᛋᛏᛁᚾ and I always loved it.”

For a few minutes he reminisced about it, loving the memories he shared with his wife and soulmate, something which I did with Sapnap all the time. Sapnap and I waited patiently for him to finish and then he spoke again. “You two are some of the best Cupids I have worked with in my 2,000 years, and so I have this new task for you.”

He pulled a pearl out of his pocket before placing it onto the desk, sending up a hologram. It showed two men, one a blond man and the other a slightly shorter brunette. Both of them were dressed casually, standing motionless in the hologram before ᛒᚼᛁᛚᛋᛅ closed it.

“Those two are the clients. They are best friends, both living in Florida in the same house. The two of them are soulmates and so it is your job to get them together.”
Sapnap’s eyes narrowed and he grinned. “Soulmates who are already best friends and live together? That’ll be easy.”

He wasn’t given an immediate response, instead we were passed over the pearl. “All of the information on them is in this. You two will be sent to their location tomorrow morning. They are supposed to be heading to a convention.”
I gasped excitedly. “A convention? I’ve heard about those. I’ve always wanted to see one.”

“Remember the job comes first ᚴᛅᚱᛚ.” The blond angel told me. “If you both decide to accept this job then you have to focus on them. But you do have enough down time earned up if you wanted to go and visit as just guests.” I was conflicted. Obviously I loved my job but also the chance to see a human convention just as a guest seemed fun.

“We can do it.” Sapnap proudly decided, his wings puffing out wide enough that he almost hit a wall. He was glared at momentarily for that but then ᛒᚼᛁᛚᛋᛅ grinned.
“Thank you both. You will be departing to California for the convention tomorrow and I will send some appropriate clothes to your apartment this evening.”

The two of us thanked him before turning and leaving, shutting the office door behind us. “We got a new client already!” Sapnap beamed proudly. “That means we must be doing perfectly.” His arms wrapped around mine and he spun us in a circle with me giggling and blushing like a youngling. Finally he pressed a kiss onto me.

“Sapnap, be careful, you could end up damaging something.” I scolded as his hand moved to mine. He led me from the hallway out into the reception. Another pair of angels had just landed on the balcony and were discussing something with Minx. All three of them were glancing at us due to my boyfriend's outlandish display which caused me to flush awkwardly.

The white winged angel said a final thing to Minx before being pointed into a door to the left. Both of the angels, one a woman with white wings and the other a man with brown wings flew off. Sapnap and I still awkwardly walked past until Minx called to us. “Did you two get a good client?” She questioned, ever curious as to what we were doing.

“Yep.” Sapnap answered. “Should be easy. Two best friends who already live together. Plus they look pretty cute together.”
“Good luck.” She smiled. “Between you and me, the boss is planning on retiring soon. If you two do well then perhaps you could take over.”

Sapnap’s eyes widened this time, looking over to me. “We could become the bosses.” He stated, his hand taking mine. “You’d look so sexy as the head angel of the Cupids.”
Minx feigned disgust. “Don’t do all that stuff around here. Your love is disgusting.”
“How do you work for the head cupid if you hate love?” Sapnap questioned, eyes narrowing.

“Sapnap, stop it.” My hand grabbed at him. “She’s just trying to wind you up.” I then looked over at Minx. “Have a good evening. We need to go and rest before we leave.” She gave me a goodbye before I pulled Sapnap outside of the building and off of the balcony.

“Karl, I'm sorry.” The ravenette said as I flew ahead of him. “I didn’t mean to embarrass you. How about I cook you dinner to apologise.”
“No need Sapnap.” I responded. “I’m just annoyed, and tired. I just want to pack and sleep.”

My boyfriend nodded, his smaller wings flapping quickly and powerfully to catch up with me. Our apartment was in the direction of the sun set. We flew up to our balcony on the fifth floor and I allowed Sapnap to unlock it for us before we walked into the hallway, our wings folding themselves behind us.

“Come here.” I instructed the ravenette, sitting down on our bed. He joined me, wrapping his wing around me. I opened the pearl, ignoring the hologram and instead opening up the information on the pair. For a few minutes we sat and read what information was present about the two of them

Dream, age 24, born in Orlando, Florida, United States, in 1999. George, age 27, born in Brighton, United Kingdom in 1996. Have been roommates since 2022. Both youtubers who make videos online and are most well known for their Minecraft server the DSMP and for being two of the three members of the Dream Team…

The two of us continued to read for a while, learning everything that we could about the best friends. Alongside the basic birth dates and stuff, there was school history, shared interests, likes and dislikes, all sorts. I remember it overwhelming me when I had started this, after all having access to all information on an individual (human or otherwise) was strange.

Once we had all of our information we got up, knowing that we would need to begin doing some research and packing up anything we would need.
