Sapnap POV.

Archangels were considered to be the original species of angel. They had a much wider range of powers and abilities than other species such as Seraphims and Cherubims had. Many of them ended up losing abilities over time to create these other species of angels. So the idea that Techno was one of these angels shocked me.

“But you’re human.” Karl noted, and I watched as the gaze of the pink haired man shifted over to my soulmate. “I… mean you are living here… as a human.”
“Nope, pretty sure I am an archangel.” He gave a curt nod that made me even more cautious. I wasn’t sure if I believed him or not.

Karl also seemed uncertain, yet he was polite enough to actually ask questions to Techno in order to find out more about him. “So… why are you on Earth then? If you are an angel then why aren’t you up in…” He trailed off, seeming unsure of mentioning the name of our utopia in case Techno had been lying.

“Because I’m a guardian angel.” He told both of us. “My job is to guide humans on the best path for them.” That still wasn’t an explanation. All guardian angels that I was aware of spent their time up in the same Utopia.

I was familiar with them, of course. Since they worked in the same building as the Cupid Headquarters I saw them often, but their jobs were much more boring as far as I was aware. They would be based solely in the angel world, looking like a human office building. They only left to the human world when their clients needed advice or to be guided on a better path.

“Why are you in the human world?” I asked him, since it didn’t make sense why he would choose to live here when he had the opportunity to realistically live in a flash home back in our world and just come here once a week at most to give advice.

“Because I find my method is more effective to give advice to humans who need it.” Techno explained with a shrug, folding his arms over his chest. “Instead of having to always be on call I can just stay here full time and take time off to go back to our world, or have a break.” He gave a small smile before repeating himself. “It’s more effective.”

The brunette beside me let out a sound of sadness and mental pain at what he had said. “But doesn’t your soulmate ever miss you?” I could sense Karl’s sadness. He and I are barely able to survive going a day without contact. Neither of us could imagine going weeks or months, or the duration of a human lifespan.

“Don’t think I have one.” He was blatant and honest. “I think that romance and soulmates are for nerds…” Then the pink haired man hesitated. “I don’t mean to insult your profession at all.”
“Sure you didn’t.” I was insulted. I didn’t like the way that he said that my job was meaningless, and that myself and my beloved were nerds.

While I was agitated and glaring at the pinkette on the other side of the room, Karl decided to be kind enough to ask some actual, genuine questions. “So if you are a guardian angel, and you are a guardian angel to Dream and George, then how come you lived in California?” He asked, tilting his head to the side.

The motion was adorable and if I was alone and unwatched I would have taken the opportunity to pin my beautiful Dove down and smother him with kisses, consensually of course. Yet I didn’t, switching my gaze back to the pink haired man. Karl did have a good question after all, and I was interested in hearing the answer.

“Because do I look like I’d want to live in Florida or England? Those places fucking suck.” He continued with a monotone voice, rolling his eyes as he did.
“You don’t need to swear.” Karl spoke with a ‘hmph’.

Techno gave an understanding look to my white-winged angel, simply stating ‘I don’t mean to be rude’. Then a small smile grew on his slightly tanned and scarred face. “But those human places suck. I’d rather be relaxing on a warm beach in California than in miserable ol’ England.” He put on a fake accent, one similar to George’s.

“Also I do need to apologise to you both, but specifically to you Karl.” Techno looked towards my beautiful soulmate, and I continued to move closer to him while glaring protectively. I didn’t like the idea that he had to apologise for anything, making me feel as though he was somebody that I couldn’t trust.

“Why do you need to apologise?” We said almost exactly the same thing word for word. The only difference between my tone and Karl’s was that I was more suspicious, and he was more curious. Then I spoke alone. “What did you do Techno? If that even is your name.” I stood up, wanting to grab at the man, but I resisted.

“As George’s guardian angel it is my job to do what is best for him.” Techno told the two of us, which was common knowledge when it came to a guardian angel. “He needed to have the opportunity to follow his own ideals and get to control his own romantic relationship.” The pinkette explained.

Once again his gaze looked over towards my soulmate. “That is part of the reason why I encouraged him to ask you on a date. Plus I wanted to check if you two would react in any way to provide more evidence you were cupids.”
“You what?”

I didn’t even hesitate as I lunged across the room at the other angel. Just feeling pure annoyance and rage at the idea that he had suspicion we were soulmates and still tried to get George to date Karl. Karl had jumped up as soon as I moved and went to grab and comfort me.

Techno was also prepared, shoving me backwards with eyes glowing red, matching my own as the flared up with flames. That in itself did startle me slightly, not knowing what powers an archangel would have in their arsenal. Karl took the opportunity to guide me away with a pat on the shoulder.

"I understand your anger." He hummed, his voice still seeming calm despite the way he stood prepared with power. "But I was just doing what was best for George. I wouldn't have encouraged it as much if I was certain that it was going to work."
"What do you mean?" Karl didn't look at Techno, just continuing to calm me.

"What is best for George is Dream, and similarly what is best for Dream is George. I am wanting to get the two of them together but needed time for George to try another relationship."

"So you wanted to prove I wouldn't be a fitting boyfriend?" I continued to take the comfort of the other angel as he spoke.
"Yes. Wanted to set the date off wrong, that's part of the reason I suggested George took you to that… place." The pinkette seemed proud of himself.

"Oh… interesting." I allowed myself to hum. They both looked over at me as I thought. "Perhaps if you aren't trying to set up my boyfriend with our client then we could work together."
