Techno POV.

Almost forty hours had passed of me reading and rereading the same contract again and again and again. I wasn't any closer to accepting what had been written on the contract than I had been the first time that I read through everything.

Yet I couldn’t help but keep focused on each independent word that was written. I felt myself hooked each time I looked over it, as though the words would twist and contort, coming up with a brand new contract each time. That didn’t make it easy for me to make a decision, instead it kept me hanging and longing to learn more.

The only time that I moved was when one of my roommates, the humans or the angels, came and expressed concern for me. They'd point out that I hadn't eaten anything or drunk anything, sometimes they'd even be invasive enough to point out that I hadn't had a shower or moved from my spot in a while.

For their sake I would move, or eat something basic like a cookie. The two humans didn't understand, since they need to eat nearly every day to survive. Karl and Sapnap both knew that angels needed less food than that, but they seemed to try and talk to me for the reassurance of the humans.

I was completely focused on the paper in front of me when Karl opened the door desperately. "Techno please. Stop reading the contract! You need to leave this room, have a shower or something, it's not good for you."

My gaze momentarily flickered over to him before back down again. "Techno." He repeated, more firmly this time. "If you don't move now I'll just come back in half an hour and say the same thing. Just like I did last time. Why not make this easier for both of us and just get in the shower now."

"You didn't though." I pointed out. From the corner of my eye I saw his wings twitch, but I did not move to look directly at him.
"What do you mean?" The Cherubin asked.
"You said you were here half an hour ago. You weren't."” I reminded him.

“What do you mean?” He was still confused, and I could easily tell that he was wanting to ask more questions, but he didn’t say anything.
“You’ve been in my room six times today, the last time you were here was almost seventy-five minutes ago, not half an hour.”

Even as I read and reread I was able to keep track of many of these things. As of this visit Karl had checked on me six times today, Sapnap had four times, George had eight times, and Dream had eleven times. I had also kept track of what things they had said to me and when, but that list was much longer and so I decided not

“Oh okay…” He was uncertain, but then took a step back. “I will be back in half an hour next time, I promise.” A hopeful smile flickered. “But only if you promise you’ll take a shower next time, or at the very least change your shirt.”
“You also said that last time.”

A smile curled on the side of my face and I glanced back over at him. “I said that you should change your shirt and shower last time?”
“No you said ‘I will be back in half an hour next time, I promise,’ last time.” I explained. “Then it took you way longer than half an hour.”

“You are a pain sometimes.” He rolled his eyes, something which honestly made me proud because I thought that an angel such as Karl wouldn’t be able to do that. I was honestly proud, however I didn’t say anything as I went back to reading again.

The brunette stepped out of the room, but he wasn’t even gone two minutes before Sapnap opened the door. “Techno!” The ravenette’s voice was much more harsh than Karl’s was. “Why are you making my soulmate upset?” He asked me. Sapnap’s hands glowed, rippling with flames that showed the Seraphim’s protectiveness.

“Who is your soulmate again?” I asked, brows furrowing and setting down the piece of paper that I had been reading. “I don’t ever recall hearing about him… or her.”
“Don’t play dumb with me.” His eyes narrowed. “He was upset that you weren’t taking care of yourself, and you just kept rereading that dumb document.”

I didn’t respond to him, and that caused the ravenette to roll his eyes. “Seriously dude, why do you keep reading that anyway? If you wanted to sign it then why wouldn’t you do that already? You are just wasting your time instead of doing something productive.”
“And now you are wasting my time.” I pointed out.

The look that Sapnap gave me made it seem as though he thought I was the dumbest person in the house (George and Dream took turns with that title). “Well I hate to be a dick, and I hate to make this about me, but you being miserable is ruining my day.”
“Poor you.” I hummed, reaching back to the contract again, finding the place I left off.

“Karl has been wanting to talk to me about something important all day!” Sapnap explained, sounding exasperated as some sparks zipped from his fingers onto the carpet.
“Is he asking for a divorce?” I asked. “I want you to know that I will happily be here as a shoulder for him to cry on after you are gone.”

“No. The conversation is going to be something positive.” The Seraphim insisted. “Our relationship is going well and Karl does not want to divorce me.”
“So positive news? Is he pregnant?” I asked. “I was never a fan of Cherubin biology, can they get pregnant as men?”

“It’s also not a pregnancy. Perhaps if you got your ass out of bed I would tell you.” He didn’t say anything more, instead just turning and leaving the room. When he was gone I updated my tally. Karl had checked on me six times today, Sapnap had five times now, George had eight times, and Dream had eleven times

Next on my list would be for George to come and visit me, perhaps a different technique to try and convince me out of bed. Following that is Dream, who has dedicated too much time trying to help me. Honestly realising that he had spent about seventy minutes of the day trying to make sure I was alright made me feel guilty.

I folded the piece of paper in half, not saying anything as I tucked it under the pillow. Even though I still knew I had no interest in signing it I put a lot of care into the motion, like a small human child sliding a tooth under their pillow for the tooth fairy.

After taking a few long moments I stood up, stretching at the first big movement I had made in hours. Now that I was thinking about myself and not that dumb letter I also began realising how hungry I was, how thirsty I was, and how much I honestly smelt. It was strange to see myself in this disgusting manner, usually I was the most well-kept in the house.

And so, finally giving in to what they said I walked into my ensuite bathroom.
