Karl POV.

I was still looking at the phone, attempting to listen out to everything that was happening around me while also listening to the conversation that had been recorded on the device in front of me. Both were things that were interesting, one involving a boss who was acting a bit strange, and the other a gift for a friend of mine.

“What is it?” Sapnap questioned, he was standing directly beside me, his attention was fully on what was going on with Techno while mine was only half on Techno.
“It’s a contract.” Techno answered, he seemed slightly annoyed by this, speaking with a slight grunt. “To take the role of Head Cupid.”

That fully got me to look away from the phone, looking over at the pinkette whose head was down, staring into the box. “The role of Head Cupid?” I asked, feeling the phone slip away from my grasp as Dream took it. I didn’t mind though, instead slowly walking over, as though in some kind of dream, to look at what Techno was holding.

George leaned over, he had no idea about what any of this meant and he seemed even more confused as he looked at what was written. “None of this is English.” He noted, seeming confused. “They are just symbols I don’t recognise.”
“That’s called Angelic.” Sapnap piped up. “It’s our native tongue.”

I moved over, and soon it was a crown of five people packed closely together attempting to read from a small piece of paper, even if two of us couldn’t understand it. “This contract claims to state that the signer, Technoblade, will take the role of Head Cupid. Upon signing, the previous Head Cupid, Philza, shall lose position so that the signer, Technoblade, can take his place.”

Sapnap read aloud for the benefit of the two humans, and for me as well as I struggled to see what was there. “Also upon signing, the signer, Technoblade, shall immediately be transported to the Cupid Headquarters, and all current cupids shall be notified of this change.”

“So for a gift your father got you a contract for a job you don’t want?” Dream asked, cocking his head to the side as he spoke. “He sucks, Techno.”
“I know that he sucks. He's the fuckin worst.” The pinkette answered. “And I won’t sign it anyway. It’s a shame, a waste of some good wrapping paper.”

“Wrapping paper?” George asked. “You have a contract to become the head of the angels and you just want to complain about wrapping paper?”
“Yes.” He answered, gaze flicking over momentarily before looking back towards the box.

“I just… I know that you don’t want this, but a piece of paper that makes you the most important angel in the world.” He explained, and I watched as Techno raised his eyebrows.
“Actually it isn’t the most important angel.” I explained. “Head Cupid is only one of the roles in charge of something.” I noticed Techno had grown annoyed and fell silent.

Honestly I was envious, something which I knew was wrong of me to feel. It just was so upsetting that my soulmate and I had worked so hard for this for centuries, and it was offered out to Techno when he had done nothing and shown no interest in the job. Plus what I had heard from Philza showed that he seemed to hate me and Sapnap.

Sapnap noticed my expression, moving to wrap an arm around my back. “Are you okay?” He asked, his voice cautious. “You look so sad, dove.”
“I’m just… a bit annoyed.” I confessed. It was a sin, but I had to be honest to my soulmate, leaning into his touch.

“Why are you annoyed?” Even though his voice was quiet I could tell that everyone in the room could hear it. It made me feel more guilty about all of my emotions, that Techno was able to hear me being annoyed about something that he didn’t want, that he was being pushed into. I didn’t answer Sapnap’s question, not out loud, but it was clear he knew.

“Wait, if you want to be Head Cupid then why not sign the document?” Dream offered, causing my attention. “Then you both can have it.”
“That’s not how documents work.” George reminded him, shaking his head with disappointment about the fact that Dream didn’t remember this.

“Wait seriously?” How did he not know how documents work? I mean he is a businessman, he does business alongside making all of his youtube videos. Surely he would know how documents of all sorts, even if there was a difference between human and angel documents.

“Even if it was how it worked, Techno’s name is written there.” Both George and Dream looked at where Sapnap was pointing, his finger basically pressed into the word ‘ᛏᛖᚳᚻᚾᚩ’, to show that that was the name of the pink haired archangel. “We can’t sign it if his name is the one that needs to be signed.”

“It wouldn’t let us.” I added on. “These documents can only be marked by whoever is named on it. We can’t write on it, damage it, we can’t even spill anything on it.”
“Really?” Dream asked. “Huh, interesting.” I nodded, it was interesting I guess, if you are into that kind of thing.

I waited patiently, wanting to know what Techno would do. He did have the ability to rip up the paper, since his name was on it, and it was fully in character for him to do. Much to my surprise though he left it, a look of curiosity on his face.

That surprised me, making me wonder if he did actually consider taking the job. It was something that concerned me, since I was still desperate for the opportunity to have that job. I continued to watch him, waiting to see what exactly he was going to do. But nothing happened, we all just stood there waiting around for what seemed like nothing.

Sapnap seemed to notice that I was still distracted and upset. His arm was still wrapped around me and he gave it a squeeze, a wordless sign of support, that he was there for me. He looked around at the group, deciding to awkwardly make an offer. “How about we order some food? I don’t think any of us are in the mood for cooking.”

“Food could be good.” Techno didn’t look at us as he spoke. Without waiting to tell us what he wanted or anything he walked up the stairs, still carrying the contract as he did.
