Techno POV.
After the door shut I lingered there for a few moments, allowing myself to calm down as my annoyance spiked. Truthfully I couldn’t be too pissed at the pair of Cupids, they were a relatively ignorant breed after all, and they had no way of knowing what would happen if they mentioned my name.
My phone was still in my hand, it had been there the whole time and I turned it on only to see that I had received multiple phone calls. They all came from the same number that had called me earlier, the one that belonged to Philza.
Alongside the calls there were some text messages, saying stuff such as ‘Please answer me, Techno.’. I continued scrolling through all of the notifications that the insane cupid was sending me. ‘I would like to talk to you.’. This nerd was even sending me text messages that had punctuation, he was ridiculous.
I ignored all of his messages and pocketed my phone, still ignoring the urge to block him for some reason. It was still early, yet I decided that perhaps it was best to do what my friends were doing in their respective rooms and go to bed. As I walked along the hallway though, I stopped when I heard the click of the door behind me.
My head turned in the direction of the sound, seeing Dream and George both peering out of the doorway. If I had been in the mood I would have jokingly pointed out that Dream told me earlier that had not been in the same room, but clearly this was the same room. Yet I was not in the mood, I allowed my fists to tighten before calming with a sigh.
“Are you okay Techno?” Dream’s voice repeated out, and as I looked into the eyes of the blond I could see a wantingness to make sure I was fine. It wasn’t even just that, he had been wanting both myself and George to be alright, which made sense as we had all been close friends for years. “We just wanted to check as to what’s happening after the yelling died down.”
“It’s nothing much.” I reassured the pair. In this moment they were both more focused on me than they were on protecting themselves from having what they did earlier discovered. George’s neck especially was patchy in areas, which was mainly hidden under the fabric of the hoodie that he was wearing which originally belonged to Dream.
“Are you sure that you are okay?” George asked, and my gaze narrowed slightly as I was aware that he hadn’t seen or interacted with me when I was in my mood. Yet the care that he showed, that both of them showed, was enough to make me smile.
“I am sure.” I nodded. “It was just a… conflict of interest, surrounding someone that both myself and the two cupids know.” Dream had heard mention of my father, but I felt as though I didn’t need to specify who it was that we were talking about. All that mattered was that it was someone who we all knew.
“And is everything okay now?” The blond asked, worry still present in his tone. I hated to admit that I was touched with how much care he had for me, since often I could be quite cold to both of them. I didn’t show them this, however I nodded as an answer to Dream’s question.
“It should be okay.” I smiled.
However I was not sure of that. Karl and Sapnap had somehow given Philza the ability to contact me, who knows what other information they may have given to him as part of their ‘soulmate report’. I just didn’t want to have to deal with the blond angel at all, if that was an option, however it had been working for the last few hundred years.
“Well… I don’t know how angel relationships work…” Dream continued. “But if you do need anything then you know that we can help you, right?” I did appreciate the offer, it was something that they had made many times, which I usually brushed off or ignored. That was truthfully a kind thing of them to offer, since humans were mostly powerless compared to angels.
Although George didn’t say anything he did nod along with his soulmate, and I noted the way that the brunette was holding the blond. “Thanks.” I gruffly said to them, before heading further down the hallway to my own room, listening as the door was shut with a creek.
When I reached my own room I flopped down on the bed, feeling annoyed at the fact that I had received even more phone calls in the two minutes I had been looking away from the screen. It was still so damn annoying, and I glared before deciding to call him back to talk to him. I didn’t want to, yet maybe I could tell him to piss off.
“Why do you keep calling me Philza?” I questioned, putting the phone to my ear. “I figured that after several hundred years you would have taken the hint that I don’t want to talk.”
“Yes I know.” He responded. “I just don’t like how you are still choosing to throw away your life with being a Guardian Angel when you just showed you are a talented match-maker.”
“So? I can be multi-talented. It’s not like I have to have one skill.” My voice was firm, I was still very agitated with him. “I don’t see why this is such a big deal to you.”
“Because me, my father, my grandfather, and onwards had all been Head Cupids. You will be able to join a family legacy.”
“Pass.” Even the idea made me want to throw up. He seemed to not hear me though.
“You are talented, hard working, and able to get soulmates together with new methods… so I’ve been told.” The man listed, with me muttering under my breath with each thing he said.
“Think how you could revolutionise everything.” He added on, and I could basically hear the grin on his face. “With your intelligence Techno, you could get every human soulmate together on the planet, think about how incredible that would be.”
“You know I don’t care about romance.”
“That doesn’t matter.” He sighed. “You are one of the most incredible angels that I’ve ever had the pleasure of knowing.” It was a clear lie, I knew that it had to be. I was incredible, that wasn’t the lie, but I knew that by my fathers standards that wasn’t correct. He would have a list of several thousand other people more important than me.
“Sure I am.” I sighed. “So as one of the most incredible angels you know surely you would want to make sure that I continue to thrive in my own job. Wouldn’t want to clip my wings, would you?” Metaphorically of course, clipping wings was incredibly dangerous for any angels. The wings wouldn’t be able to grow back, it was considered cruel.
“I…” He didn’t say much else, after a few seconds of nothing he hung up the call, leaving me alone with my thoughts. How the fuck did he even know how to use a phone? Angels don't use phones. couldn’t help but wonder as I laid myself down. At least it wasn’t much of an issue as I finally blocked him and set my phone on the bedside table.
