Chapter 7: Dove

Karl POV.

As we stood there I heard a knock on the door, and after Sapnap and I glanced at each other he hid his wings. The two of us made sure our wings were hidden before heading to the door, and I was the one to open it.

Taped to the door there was an envelope. I grabbed it off, being careful not to damage the door or the envelope itself before I disappeared back into our room. “What is it?” Sapnap asked, looking at the envelope while I held it. “Does it have a name on it?”
“It just says ‘To Karl’.” I responded, brows furrowing as I opened it.

The envelope itself was stuffed full of something and when I opened it out I saw two passes on lanyards. I pulled one out, passing the envelope afterwards to my soulmate. “It’s the VIP pass that George and Dream were talking about.” I told him. “It’s so sweet that they actually decided to give us these so we could see them. They are truly both deserving of true love.”

“Actually it seems they were just for you.” He said, glancing at the envelope. “Since your name is the only one on the envelope.” I let an ‘oh’ sound, looking back at the envelope again.
“No, surely it’s just a mistake.” I thought for a moment. “They probably meant it to both of us, my name is just shorter and quicker to write.”

Sapnap let out an ‘uh-huh’ noise. He put the lanyard around his neck, admiring the beautiful logo in the corner. “Well either way, this was admittedly nice of George and Dream.”
“We should go and thank them.” I offered, already heading to the door. “Maybe we could offer to pay for them to go to dinner. It’ll be a way to get them both alone together.”

Sapnap nodded at me, since I was usually the one to do the plans to initiate the romance. He headed out of the room first and I followed after him, grabbing some human money that I would give to the pair of soulmates. The ravenette knocked on Dream’s door, the one he had stepped out of earlier. But there was no answer, so I tried again.

“Dream,” my voice was soft and I knocked on the door. “Are you there? We have a gift for you and George.” He didn’t say anything and we were about to turn and knock on George’s door when the door next to Dream’s opened and George stepped out.

“Hey guys…” He spoke softly, his gaze focusing solely on me though. “What’s up? Why were you guys knocking on Dream’s door?” From behind him I could see Dream, also there standing and listening to the conversation.
“Well we wanted to thank you for the passes you gifted us.” Sapnap spoke.

He still had the lanyard hanging around his neck, showing it off as though it was a medal of some kind and George merely smiled. “No problem, you guys are cool.” He shrugged.
“Well we got you a gift.” I told him, holding out the human money. “For you and Dream to go out to dinner together.” Cautiously George took it and looked at what we had given him.

“Five hundred dollars?” He questioned, his gaze drifting up. “No, this was a gift for you Karl. You don’t need to give me anything, especially this much.”
“Then you and Dream could go out for dinner.” Sapnap offered, the same as me. “There is a restaurant down the street that looks quite nice.”

George glanced awkwardly over at the ravenette who continued. “It’s a French place, I am pretty sure it’s called Mange Puis Embrasse. The food looks great.”
“Isn’t that a romantic restaurant?” Dream questioned, his voice somewhat quiet as he asked. “For couples? Not friends.”

I sighed, obviously this wasn’t going to be that easy but I commended Sapnap for trying. “Well you could still go.” I told the pair of them. “The food does look good. Plus, you definitely look like part of a couple.” They both blushed at my words but quickly looked away.
“No thanks.” George grew stubborn quickly. “We aren’t going to a place like that together.”

My gaze drifted over to Dream who was silent yet firm, seemingly in agreement with the brunette in front of him. “Well then how about the four of us all go out together.” I offered. “It doesn’t have to be a date if you don’t want it to be, but you two and us two.” It would be a double date in everything except name, but maybe that would work for them.

“No,” George answered, still seeming annoyed but slightly less so at the possibility of going on a double date (so perhaps it was just nerves stopping him from going on a date alone). “Look, the offer is sweet Karl, but I’m not too sure if we’d be into that.”
“And we can’t leave Techno,” Dream added on.

I sent a glance to Sapnap, clearly these efforts were not working and so I dropped it. “Well maybe you two could go and spend time together either way.” I took a half step back. “We will leave you two now to spend some time together.” We turned and walked back down the hallway as George shut the door.

Out of shame I lowered my head. It was obviously still the first day but I was annoyed that it wasn’t going to plan yet. Sapnap seemed to share my sadness, but he covered it up well as he gave me a kiss from behind. “Don’t look so down, dove.” He said, a small smile on his lips at the quaint name he gave.

“What did you call me?” I asked, only breaking eye contact to unlock the door to our room.
“Dove. It’s a new nickname which I think suits you.” I blushed slightly at his words but let him continue. “And I figured now would be a good time to try it out.”

He watched me walk across the length of the room to our bed and then I sat down, with him following after me. “Why a dove?” I questioned.
“Because doves symbolise peacefulness, beauty, and purity.” He explained. “Plus you have matching white wings.” I smiled at him as he joined me on the bed.

“I just think we didn’t get off to the best start.” I admitted to my boyfriend.
“When do we ever get off to the best start?” He chuckled in response. “You are doing great Karl, we both are. We are still helping these humans, even if only a little. Plus it’s only early, we have as long as we need.”

“Not if we want to try and get Philza’s position. Imagine how many humans we could help if we did well here and he gave us his job.”
“We’ll do it.” He reassured me. “We will get Philza’s job and help everyone. Everything will be just fine if you trust me, okay.”
