George POV.
“They’ll be here in a few minutes.” I said, feeling bubbly as I fussed around downstairs and cleaned. “Since their flight landed forty-two minutes ago, and they would have taken twelve minutes to get their luggage, and thirty minutes to organise and get an Uber here.” My eyes caught on a bunch of papers messily on the table and I ran to clean them up.
Techno chuckled. “If only you could be this organised the rest of the year.” He had made no effort to help me, instead taking his stuff to his room before watching me fuss around from the couch. Sitting on the pink haired man’s lap was Patches, equally unhelpful as she slept.
“Well the rest of the year George doesn’t have a crush on the people coming to visit. He doesn’t even help clean when his parents are coming to visit.” I watched as Dream walked downstairs and took the stack of papers off my hand. He muttered about how he’d put it into his room before walking off. Techno watched him with a sympathetic gaze.
“What’s he on about?” I asked, brows furrowing. He had seemed so pitiful as he disappeared upstairs, and I didn’t understand it, nor did I understand Techno’s usual firm demeanour disappearing as he watched his friend. But before I could ask about it, there was a knock on the door and I grinned.
Immediately I ran over, hearing the sound of muttering outside of the door and I opened it. “Karl…” I grinned, seeing the brunette. “Welcome, how was your flight?”
“It was good.” He responded, an awkward smile appearing on his face. “And thank you all so much for allowing us to stay here.”
Sapnap turned to the foreign car that was still in the driveway and waved him off, before stepping inside alongside Karl and myself as the electric engine whirred to life. “We, well I, have organised two of our guest rooms for you.” I explained proudly, watching as they carefully took off their shoes before daring to step on the soft carpet.
“One of them is overlooking the driveway, and it is right beside the stairs, and the other is next to my room, overlooking the pool.” I wanted to make the offer for Karl to have the room beside me, but before I got the chance Sapnap spoke up.
“I’ve always liked pools.” He smiled. “That room would be nice.” My smile faltered, I had wanted to be next to Karl, for a chance to have the two of us beside one another. Yet I couldn’t bring myself to tell him no after the two had seemingly already agreed. Then Karl looked at me.
“But you don’t need to have two rooms for us. We’d be fine sharing.”
I turned him down, saying that it was fine for them to have their own rooms, after all how was I supposed to talk with Karl alone if Karl shared a room with his friend and travelling companion. I could still not turn down Sapnap’s offer though and so I led the two of them upstairs, showing Karl the room overlooking the driveway and Sapnap the other room.
Techno watched as we disappeared with me trying to hide my disappointment. I showed them both to their room before retreating back downstairs. “Don’t pull that face.” The pinkette scoffed the moment he saw me, which surprised me as his gaze was downwards on the cat on his lap.
“What face?” I asked, feeling annoyed.
“The face you always make when you’re annoyed.” He stated. “I don’t even need to look at you to know you’re doing it.” I sighed, turning to face the pinkette.
“How did you know I was pulling a face? Was it that obvious?”
“Yes. Since you are that desperate to try and get with Karl.” He said, hand running along the cat.
I sighed, trying to keep myself from glaring at the pinkette. I didn’t like how little hope he had in my love life, however he was not someone that I was affected by. My gaze drifted around the room. “Where is Dream?” I asked, since I hadn’t seen him since we were cleaning a few minutes earlier before Karl and Sapnap had arrived.
“Probably doing work.” He replied, however he didn’t seem certain that that was true. I pushed that thought away, walking myself up the stairs. Karl was moving around in the hallway, I almost found myself bumping into him before catching myself. “Karl, I’m so sorry.”
“George I’m so sorry.” He said in unison.
As I stood there I chuckled, thinking it was funny that we both found ourselves at fault. He had a small book in his hand which contained photos of beaches and a place called St Augustine. “Are you looking for somewhere to go?” I asked.
“Oh… yes.” He responded. “Looking for the sights.”
I read over the things that were on the page, with the header being ’Romantic Things to do in Florida’. “ ‘Romantic’?” I asked him, glancing to look in his eyes. “You are looking for romantic things to do in Florida? But you are with your friend.” The brunette blushed as I pointed that out, chuckling awkwardly while riffling the papers.
“Whoops… my mistake.” He muttered. “I grabbed it at the airport without reading what was actually on the cover. I just liked the picture of the beach to be honest.”
“Easy mistake to make.” I brushed off, grinning. “But if you want, I can be a tour guide, that way you don’t have to focus on any honeymoon guides.”
“Haven’t you only lived here for a year?” He asked, managing a chuckle, and I shrugged in response. After a few moments he took a step back. “But thank you for the offer. Perhaps I will talk to Sapnap about it.” Then he disappeared into the room beside mine.
I was upset at that, at the fact that he had gone when I was striking a conversation with him. But perhaps the reason he had the romantic book was so that he could see if I wanted to go on a date with him. That cheered me up, and with a grin I went to knock on the door of my blond best friend. Slowly Dream opened it. “What’s up?” He asked.
Without waiting I stepped into his room, shutting the door so that our conversation would not be heard by the other’s in the house. “I think Karl likes me.” I grinned.
“You are delusional.” He blatantly responded, sitting himself down on the bed with arms crossed and gaze narrowed. “So why do you think he likes you?”
“He had a book about romantic things to do in Florida. I think he is asking me on a date.”
“Uh-huh…” He grumbled, allowing me to continue my rambling.
“When I asked him about it he just said that he grabbed the book without realising that it was about romance.” I explained. “I didn’t believe it though, since how do you accidently do that?”
I continued. “So therefore he must be planning on taking someone on a date somewhere romantic and it must be me, who else is here?”
“The entire population of Florida?” The blond asked and I glared at him, before continuing with my reasoning.
