Techno POV.

Dream seemed slightly upset as he walked out of the room. Once he was gone my eyes flickered back down to the piece of paper, which I couldn’t help but keep focused on. I just couldn’t help but wonder what exactly had been going through the mind of the angel. How exactly we had come to this point, to this kind of relationship.

“Why would you do this Philza?” I asked, allowing my eyes to flutter shut as my head tilted in the direction of the sunlight from the window. “Dad?” The word slipped out, a sliver of a memory from when I was younger, from before I had decided being a cupid wasn’t me, a decision that shattered our relationship.

1,700 years ago

“ᛆᛌᛐᛁᚱ ᛁᛌ ᛆ ᛐᚱᛆᛐᛁᛐᚭᚿ ᚴᚱᛆᛐᛁᛐ ᛓᛁ ᛆᚿᚴᛁᛚᛌ…” I muttered the words to myself as I read aloud. It was quite an interesting topic, history of human and angel traditions, they would be quite useful for any trivia that I ended up with. A smile appeared on my face, I was happy that I had a while alone before my family returned.

Before that thought even had time to fully process the door opened, and I groaned internally as the sound of annoyance incarnate came bustling into the room.
"ᛏᛖᚳᚻᚾᚩ!" Tommy said in a singsong tone, moving over to me and causing me to pull the book closer to my face with a sneer directed towards him.

"Don't call me that, ᛏᚩᛘᛘᛁ." I responded, rolling my eyes and refusing to make eye contact with him (I can't see you, you can't see me logic).
"Fine then, Techno." He repeated my name in English, eyes narrowing to challenge me. I cringed as his voice was just as annoying in English as it was in Angelic.

"Stop harassing your brother ᛏᚩᛘᛘᛁ." My father instructed as he walked into the room, following after my brother. I looked over at him appreciatively, feeling grateful that he had the authority to shoo the smaller blond angel away when he was bugging me.
“Don’t call me ᛏᚩᛘᛘᛁ. My name is Tommy.” He responded.

“Your English name is Tommy, and you have changed it every week for the last decade.” I pointed out, fully closing my book as this conversation felt interesting.
“Yesterday weren’t you Theseus?” Philza asked, face contorted in amusement.
“That was a stupid nickname given to me by Techno.” Tommy explained. “Nothing else.”

“A stupid nickname which once belonged to a Greek Hero. He is one of the greatest humans I have ever had the pleasure of being able to… study.” Meet. I had snuck down to Earth one night, as people in their four hundreds often did, and while I was there I met a guy called Theseus. He was inspired by my awesomeness to become a hero.

“A nickname from a Greek Hero who died when I was a toddler.” He responded.
“So the coolest thing about you comes from when you were a toddler? That’s lame.”
“You are the one who gave me the lame nickname. All my lameness comes from you!”
“Then maybe I could beat the lameness out of you.”

Philza jumped in the way before we had the chance to get anywhere near each other. “Neither of you are going to be beating one another.” He sighed with disappointment at the way his sons were acting. “Techno, stop threatening your brother, Tommy, stop… I don’t know, being yourself too close to your brother.”

For a head angel he was quite strict when it came to his children. It was slightly boring to have to hang out with somebody who had such a high position of authority since he ruined most of our fun, but I looked up to him because of it, and because of that I actually wanted to follow in his footsteps and be a cupid.

“But Phil~” Tommy groaned, crossing his arms and pouting. “It’s not my fault that I am related to the most annoying person in existence.”
“If you think that I am the most annoying person in existence then you obviously haven’t looked at your reflection for a while.”

“Well at least I’m not-”
“Tommy, go to your room.” Philza was quick to jump in, shocking my brother and making me smile. When my younger brother didn’t move immediately, my father continued. “If you don’t go now I will drag you by your wings.”

“Wait, why do I have to go?” He asked. “Techno is also here, send him to his room. He’d probably be happy there because all of his friends are in there. Oh wait, all of Techno’s friends are just scrolls, books, and scriptures.”
“That insult was lame.” I rolled my eyes.

I would have buried my head back into the book in front of me but it looked as though I was going to prove his point. So I just sat there, studying him like the strange foreign creature that I knew he was. “You can go to your room because Techno was here first, and I know he’ll be quieter than you usually are.”

The blond sighed and stuck his tongue out at me before heading out. I allowed myself to chuckle at the sight, then I turned to my father. “Thank you Phil.” I smiled. “He was beginning to stink up the room with adolescence.”
“You still don’t need to insult him.” He reminded me.

I couldn’t help but nod, since I could often bug Tommy as much as he bugged me, even though he was more annoying than me. “So how was your day?” He asked.
“It was good. I managed to get through five books in eight hours. Plus I made dinner for the four of us, whenever ᚴᚱᛁᛋᛏᛁᚾ is home.”

“Thank you so much Techno.” He smiled, pride etching into every crevice of his face. “You know that I am always so happy for everything you do.”
“Thanks… dad.” I smiled, glancing at him fondly. “And how was today for you?”

“It was incredible. It is always incredible.” That was the way he almost always responded, yet I was always willing to listen to what he was saying, since his job was quite interesting and important. “My angels managed to match up seventeen different soulmate pairings.”
“That’s always so amazing to hear.” I smiled.

“It is.” He agreed. “And hearing your enthusiasm is always so great too, Techno.” The blond man seemed quite happy as he said that, and it made me feel happy in response to see my father happy. “You know, one day you will be an incredible Cupid, just like your father,”
“Yeah.” I nodded, but then I glanced away, feeling guilty.
