George POV.
Dream continued to smile, even chuckling at what I said as though I was being unserious and funny. “Maybe you should just starve then.” He continued to smile, a look of challenge appearing on his face. “Since I can’t always be here to take care of you.”
“Maybe you should…”
I naturally cut myself off as someone with familiar pink hair descended down the stairs, catching both of our attention. He was not in good condition, unfortunately. His hair was still wet from the shower, when usually he would spend half an hour making sure it was dried and styled nicely, there were bags under his eyes showing his tiredness, and his lips were parted and dry.
“Techno?” Dream was the one to speak first. “You’re up?” He seemed surprised, even though I had told him that Techno was up and moving around. “And… you are…” The blond took another look at his appearance, not seeming to be able to find the right words to say at this point in time.
Techno didn’t need that final word though, he knew exactly what Dream was wanting to say, we both knew what he wanted to say. “Sorry I can’t have cleaned myself up for you, Dream.” His voice was gruff as he walked right past, moving to look in the fridge for food to eat. We followed him with our gaze, attempting to read the emotion etched into his shoulders and back.
“If you want I can make you something.” The blond offered. “I’m currently making a ham and cheese sandwich if you want one as well.” My mouth parted and I was about to yell at the blond, since he had said he wouldn’t make me a sandwich but now he was making Techno one. Yet I figured that it was just because Techno was miserable that he made the offer.
“Na.” Techno shook his head. “I don’t really want anything to eat.” He told the two of us, yet at the same time he continued looking through the cupboard for something to eat.
“So can you make me a sandwich Dream?” I asked, since he had made the offer and since he wasn’t making one for Techno then I should be allowed to jump in.
“Fine.” He sighed, and I gave a small celebration. I was sitting happily with my legs kicking back and forth as the blond began slicking some more cheese. Techno continued to keep looking for food as I allowed Dream to create the best sandwich, for his best soulmate.
He slid a plate over to me, and I couldn’t hide how excited I was, even for something as mundane as a sandwich. “Thank you so much.” I kept my voice low, since I was still glancing over towards Techno. He still seemed moody, looking through the different foods two or three times before giving up and moving through to the living room.
Both myself and Dream glanced at Techno before tailing after him. “Are you alright Techno?” Dream asked, both of us close together standing a few feet away from him as he sat on the couch. “I mean you are taking care of yourself so it seems like you are better, but you still seem so miserable.”
I kept my voice low, and avoided his eyes by looking at the corner of the couch. “Is there anything we can do?” More like ‘is there anything Dream can do’, since he was way better at this stuff than I was. I’d just stand here and offer moral support as best I could.
“You don’t need to do anything.” He assured the pair of us. “I am fine, I just made a tough decision.” That was the only explanation that he was able to give us, and neither of him decided to push him for anything more.
We both nodded. The thing is when he said we don’t need to do anything, we didn’t know what to do. Should we go back to the sandwiches Dream made? Should we stay here with our trusted friend and roommate? Neither of us were too sure.
“Are Sapnap and Karl around?” Techno eventually asked, he still wasn’t looking at us as we stood here. “I was wanting to talk to them about something.”
“They’re having a talk.” Dream answered.
“I thought they were going to have a divorce.” I chimed in.
“Oh… okay.” Was all that he said, then he turned his gaze away to look towards the blank television screen. “I’ll find them when they’re done, I guess.”
I glanced over to Dream. “Should we go back to our sandwiches?” I quietly asked him, and after a brief second he nodded at me.
Karl POV.
“Okay. I know that we are still focusing on Techno, but we’ve been avoiding talking for the past few hours.” Sapnap nodded at me, understanding what I was meaning. This was something we both wanted to talk about, but it was a heavy subject. Even though we had mentioned it last night it would be a lot different now while we were wide awake.
“So… we’ve both been thinking about work… obviously.” I began, refusing to look at the ravenette for a few moments. “And after what happened with Philza, I was wanting to know if you wanted to go back to work or… stay here…” Part of me wanted to continue on, but I wasn’t sure what exactly I was wanting to say, so I kept quiet.
“Well…” He studied me, wanting to see what I was thinking. If he could get any hint, his voice was cautious when he eventually answered. “I think that I want to stay. I was thinking that we had done too much work beforehand, and after what Philza had said…” He then hesitated, looking me up and down, analysing my expression.
I could sense his uncertainty, sense the fact that he wanted to just do what I wanted. But I didn’t want to make a decision just by that. In this case though, I agreed with him. “We would struggle though.” I pointed out. “We don’t know how to live in the human world without assistance. We’ve always needed money provided.”
“There is another angel in the house we could talk to about that. Plus if we are nice maybe we could stay in this house…”
“I mean they would be able to help.” I added on as Sapnap nodded. The two of us looked at one another slowly, continuing to analyse one another slowly.
My hand moved to his and even though he had said that he was fine, and I had read his thoughts that were fine with it. Yet we still moved to hold hands, breathing slowly as we watched them between us. “So you want to move here?” He asked, and I nodded without saying anything. “That was easy.”
“I can sense that’s what you want.” I informed him. “I want it too…” Then I chuckled at what he had said, since he was correct. This had been easier than we thought it would be, after all of these centuries we were still on the exact same wavelength.
“Should we go and ask Techno then?” I asked, a smile growing on my face. Sapnap was quick to nod and we climbed out of the bed.
