Karl POV.
I continued to look at Sapnap wondering what I should do, especially since it was clear that George was not able to… take a hint. I was about to turn him down, as I had attempted to do every other time he seemed to try and make a move on me. Before I had the chance to say something Sapnap motioned for me to wait.
“Why?” I quietly asked him, eyes narrowing. I didn’t want George to get suspicious over the fact that I was taking ages to respond to him. The ravenette muttered for me to talk with him and I sighed, eyes closing before listening to him.
“Just trust me. I just need a minute.”For a moment I studied my soulmate before nodding. “Um… just give me a minute George.” I called back to him. “I was meaning to call my mother…”
“Call your mother?” The confusion was clear in the brunette’s voice at my words. “Would that not be able to wait, Karl?”“I was meant to call her a few minutes ago… I’m so sorry George.” My voice was slightly panicked, thinking that I was putting him off. “You don’t mind… Do you?” I was planning on doing it either way, just figured that it was polite.
“Yes.” He answered. “Of course I am fine. How about I come back in five minutes.” I gave a small ‘that’ll be great’ before turning my attention to Sapnap. He waited patiently for the sound of footsteps to leave before saying anything.
“What do you think I should do?” I asked him, crossing my arm and tilting my head. The ravenette wordlessly moved over to sit alongside me.
“Well he wants to take you out to dinner on a date, right?” The ravenette asked, and I gave a brief nod and responded with another ‘right’.“Perhaps you should say yes.” He suggested, and it was clear that he was going to continue and I knew it was impolite, but I interrupted him.
“Really?” I questioned, raising my voice. “I’ve been upset about the idea that he has a crush on me and now you are suggesting I go out on a date with him.”“Hear me out darling.” He hummed, running a hand alongside my face. “You go on a date with George and show him that you are a terrible person to date. Then he doesn’t have a crush on you any more and instead he can have a crush on Dream.”
“That might work.” I nodded, before hesitating.“What’s wrong?” The ravenette saw my concern, his hands continued to hold mine and waited patiently for me to explain, especially since we had four and a half minutes left before George got back to ask again.
“Just worried we’re encouraging this… by accident.”The ravenette was still confused. “Just sometimes with human crushes they won’t be deterred by those kinds of actions. You know this Sapnap. Sometimes they aren’t deterred if I have crazy conspiracies, or chew with my mouth open.”
“Then do more than that.” He offered, rolling his eyes as though it was obvious.“You know I can’t Sapnap.” I reminded him. “I can’t get him to hate me by burping and farting… that’s disgusting! Or act physically violent to scare him away from me. Or start ranting about racism or sexism. You know this.”
“Of course I do. I’ve loved you for centuries.”“And you know that humans are exactly like I say. Remember how hard it was to get Oscar to stop asking me out or coming to my desk with flowers when we were working with Micayla and Ryan.” Sapnap nodded. “Or when Abraham and Mary were getting together and Abraham kept inviting me to those plays… you know what I mean…”
“Yes I do know.” Sapnap nodded solemnly. “But the worst thing that will happen is that you go on a date with George, he still has a crush on you, same situation as before.”
“Or he ends up loving me even more and the date will show I am interested in him.” I furrowed my brows, since I had seen logic in Sapnap’s plan but it was definitely risky.I know that it’s risky.” The ravenette admitted, noting the concern that I was feeling. “And you know that I would never make you do anything you are uncomfortable with, my beloved.” His words made me melt, the gentleness of his voice and the sweet names that he called me. If my wings weren’t hidden they’d be fluttering enough to have me hovering off of the bed.
Neither of us spoke for a while, and before we even had the chance to, the knock on the door returned. “Karl… I’m sorry if I came back too soon.” It was George, but I hadn’t moved my gaze off of my soulmate. “I was just… wondering if you wanted to go out to dinner… since I need to make a reservation.”
Sapnap was waiting expectantly for an answer alongside the brunette. I took a moment to think over the conversation that I had had with the ravenette and gave a half confident smile to him. “Yes, dinner would be nice George.” I answered through the door.
“Really?” The brunette hesitated, sounding as though he had expected me to turn him down. Part of me felt guilty that he felt like that, but also at the same time good because normally I would not say yes, this was a one time thing. Man, I was a bad person.
“Yes, really. Just tell me what plans you decide on.”He gave an ‘okay’ and then it sounded as though he had left. I let out a breath in relief, since this was a tense situation we were navigating through. When we were alone Sapnap chuckled, causing me to turn and furrow my brows at him. “You look so frazzled.” He managed to calm himself. “It’s honestly cute.”
“No it isn’t.” I sighed. “Sorry if I am paranoid that I am always the one who has to become a temporary love interest. I don’t want to be mean and also don’t want to lead them on. You never have to deal with this.”
He booped me on the nose as though I was a small child. “That is because I am an angel that can manipulate fire, and you are an angel that can manipulate hearts.”
“I would never manipulate anything.” I was disgusted by the suggestion that I would manipulate anything, and Sapnap gave a brief peck on the cheek as an apology.“I mean you are renowned for your beauty, so theoretically if you wanted to manipulate something you could.” He pointed out, and I gave a nod in acknowledgement.
“You will have to give me some form of reward after always having to deal with this.” I stated, running a hand along my soulmate’s chest. He began to glow, a way of showing his embarrassment and I thought it was so attractive and adorable to see. “I would love to do that, my beautiful dove.” He gave a respectful nod.
