History:
Violeta is Maya's mom, and her dad is never named. They are kind of poor, which Maya is fine with, but she sometimes wish she can have a big birthday party. Maya's real parents, as well as everyone in this page, never show up, only a recreation of them show up. Maya's parents eventually get cancer and so Maya has to take care of them. They act like nothing is wrong and Maya's dad tells Maya she can have the house when they die. Eventually, they do die and Maya gives them both a kiss and says goodbye.

History:
Elena is Maya's sister. She is a year younger than Maya and is said to be really smart, that she's going to college before Maya. When Elena gets cancer, she still talks about going to college like nothing is wrong. Maya gets mad at her but Elena is confused why. Eventually, Elena becomes to sick to do anything, and she dies at the end of the story when Maya is trying to get her out of bed to escape the jelly people.

History:
Maya's aunts and uncles appear in the story. Sofia and Rafael are said to have 4 kids, but only two of them appear in the book, and Luciana and Peter's kids don't show up at all. Sofia is the only one really given attention, in which she wants Maya to practice her Spanish more often. They all get cancer and pass away early on in the story. Leaving their kids to Maya to care of.

History:
Axel is Maya's favorite cousin. He is sweet and likes to give kisses. He, like everyone else, eventually gets cancer too and can barley do anything. At the end of the story, he passes away and Maya says goodbye to him. Abril is Maya's other cousin and Axel's older sister. Maya takes care of her too. She is the only one of her family members who doesn't die, yet Maya leaves her upstairs. It's possible she also died but they just didn't say it.

History:
They are all Maya's grandparents. Gran gives Maya a necklace on her 16th birthday, and Maya holds onto it the whole story, she mostly clings to it when someone passes away, and especially when Gran passed away. Gran was the first to get cancer, and then Gramps, and soon after, Pappy and Nana.
