History:
Jaxon is Maya's best friend. She says she doesn't like him like him, he is just like a brother to her. Jaxon likes to talk a lot, and he's interested in conspiracy theories, and video games, and he's the one to tell Maya about the AR booth at the Pizzaplex. In the AR game, Jaxon's mom gets cancer, and then his older sister, and then him, so Maya is left to take care of him, and it is assumed he dies.

History:
Noelle is Maya's best friend. She annoys easily by Jaxon, and is nice with Maya. In the AR game, Noelle goes to see Ms. Carpenter's baby with Maya, and sees nothing wrong with it. Noelle disappears after this, but we can assume she got cancer, and probably died.

History:
The Davis' consist of Mr. and Mrs. Davis, and Wendy and Wendell Davis. They are Maya's neighbors. At one point, the parents die from cancer, and Maya is left to take care of the twins, but she doesn't go near their house near the end when the jelly people are surrounding it.

History:
The Thompsons consist of Mr. and Mrs. Thompson, Donny, Parker, and Aurora Parker. The Thompsons were a family that Maya always babysat for. Maya mentions that Mr. Thompson always told bad jokes, but that she misses them after he died. Maya is left to take care of the kids after the parents die, but Parker and Aurora die too. Donny is the final one left, and at the end of the story, he is very weak and he has an alligator toy. He tells Elena to get a gift from the shelf, and it's something he made for her 16th birthday that she wasn't able to give her, and she cries after she thought she had lost all her tears.

History:
The Lamberts were an elderly couple who were Maya's neighbor, they were always grumpy so Maya was happy to see them cheerful in her fake AR birthday. Maya mentions Mrs. Lambert has an award winning coffee cake, and she wonders what happens to it after she died. She didn't realize they got sick and died until their kids show up to sell their house.

History:
Mrs. Carpenter is Maya's teacher, who's on the younger side. When she has a baby, Maya and Noelle go to visit it, and Maya is freaked out that it's faceless, but Noelle and Mrs. Carpenter act like everything is normal. She later sees Ms. Carpenter again at the store, and her baby is older now. Ms. Carpenter doesn't seem to have cancer herself.
