When Kazuno next appeared I was quick in getting to the point.
"Where's my Dad?" I ask her. "I want to see him."
She shuts her eyes and lets out a sigh, "I have already told you. He is busy."
"Busy doing what?"
She looks over to me, her eyes holding some kind of warning that I decide to ignore.
"Busy doing what?" I pester.
"We don't have time for this. Come, we need to move on with your training."
I frown at her, crossing my arms.
It's always training. Training and studying. But for what? Am I really actually supposed to fight Shredder? And the dragon? Is that really the best way to go about this? Because surely there's something else.
"How come it's just me that needs the training?" I ask.
"Do not make me repeat myself."
"So I need to be the one to fight the dragon, right?" I raise an eyebrow at her. "Well why can't my father do it? Because we talk about the kusanagi and we talked about how only people from the five lines can carry it without falling sick and dying. So, I'll ask again, how come I'm training to kill a dragon when my father can do it?"
The temperature seems to drop in this moment as Kazuno's eyes bore deep into me. Her lips twitch ever so slightly as she tries to keep her composure, to have that impassive mask fix on. But I can't help but find the reaction curious, why not scream and yell at me? Why not react?
"Because that's not how it works." She says softly, though there's a tension that underlines her words.
"Then tell me how it works."
"You train." She says. "And then you fight the dragon and then you kill it."
"I want to know more."
"You don't need to know more."
"Oh come on!" I exclaim. "I'm supposed to be risking my life fighting this crazy mythological beast, for what? Just because? No other reason?"
"No, you're supposed to do it for the greater good." She tells me. "Because it is the right thing to do. Because you must."
"I know it's the ethical thing to do, I don't need to be told that. What I need to be told is why, why me? Why not my father?"
"I have said, he is busy."
"What is more important than this?" I ask her.
She doesn't respond. Again she just looks at me, observes me with the slight tilt of her head. And then she looks away, pursing her lips.
Maybe I've pushed her enough. Maybe she'll actually tell me something useful.
"It appears instructing you tonight will be a waste of time." She tells me at last.
Goddamnit.
"I shall return tomorrow." And with that she disappears.
I can't help but scream out in frustration at her departure, because seriously? Are you asbolutely kidding me? She would rather run away instead of giving me any information whatsoever? It's absurd!
I softly hit my head against the wall with a groan as frustration floods my system.
I need to find my Dad. I have to. Plain and simple. But Kazuno is not interested in giving me info. Though, I could possibly tire her out by repeatedly asking her but that could take a while and I don't think we have the luxury of time right now.
