The Yankees stadium is massive and certainly enough to entertain the kids. Matthew and Laila are wide-eyed as they look at everything and they have shy smiles as they meet the baseball players. The players are all kind and when they give them their jerseys, Matthew hugs everyone with promises of making them a friendship bracelet.
Caitlin and Jessica are also given jerseys with Clark and Williams on the back respectively. They're taken down to the field before the game and Caitlin's obviously done this before, so she walks the kids through it as two of the players sit behind home plate ready to catch the pitches.
"What if I don't get it across the plate?" Laila asks.
"It's okay," Caitlin reassures her, "A lot of people don't make it across the plate."
"What if I hit him?" Matt asks, "I don't want to hurt anybody."
"He's really good at catching Matty, he won't let it hit him," Jessica says.
Caitlin pats Matt on the head, "Why don't you go first?"
Matt's face becomes one of concentration as he holds the ball in his little hand. He sticks his little tongue out and kicks his leg up as he throws the ball. The ball hits the ground a few feet in front of Matt and rolls its way in the direction of the baseball player. Honestly, Jessica was just proud her son threw it in the right direction.
"Yay!" Matt exclaims as he jumps up and down.
When it's Laila's turn she throws the ball and just barely gets it across the plate. She throws her hands up in the air and turns to her mother and Jessica cheers her on as she pulls Laila in for a hug. The players come from behind the plate, and they praise the kids before giving them a first bump.
Caitlin picks up Matthew and carries him off the field while Jessica holds Laila's hand as they walk to their seats.
"What time is it?" Jessica asks the kids.
"Hotdog time!" Laila and Matthew yell in unison. Jessica looks over at Caitlin and she looks at Jessica confused.
"What?"
"You have to say it," Laila says.
"Say what?" Caitlin asks.
"Hotdog time!" Laila exclaims, "If you don't say it then we can't eat hotdogs!"
"Really?" Caitlin asks.
Matthew groans and bends over holding his stomach, "I need a hotdog or I'll die!"
Well, Caitlin could confirm that Matthew inherited Jessica's love for the dramatics.
Caitlin looks at Jessica who simply raises a brow. Caitlin sighs, "It's hotdog time."
Matthew giggles and Laila laughs as well. Caitlin frowns as she looks at them.
"What?" Caitlin asks.
"Mommy said that we could trick you into saying anything," Laila explains with a smile. Jessica smiles proudly at her children.
"And you guys wanted me to say it's hotdog time?" Caitlin asks.
"Matt thought it would be funny," Laila says and Matthew giggles. Caitlin can't help but smile at the kids as she shakes her head. It was innocent fun.
"Well, if it's not actually hotdog time then I guess I'll be eating hotdogs all by myself," Caitlin says as she begins making her way toward the concessions. Matthew jumps out of his seat and walks over to Caitlin, taking her hand.
"No! I need a hotdog, or I'll die!" Matt says and Caitlin laughs.
"Alright Matt let's get you a hotdog so you don't die," Caitlin says as the two of them begin heading off to the concession stand. Jessica looks at her daughter.
