Amy's POV:

I knock on his office door and hear an enter.

I walk in and take notice that he is sitting at his desk typing away when all of a sudden as I am about to take a seat, Caroline barges in.

"Hun, we need to review the topics we discussed earlier for the next funding period concerning the possible merger." She mentions while snubbing a disgusting look my way.

I stand there looking at her thinking how pathetic she is.

"Caroline, we'll have to reschedule our meeting. I know we said it would be after the conference but right now I have to handle a few things with Ms. Monroe at the moment." He mentions just as he is finished typing and happens to look up at her.

"Hun, I know you have something to discuss with your assistant but this merger deal is time sensitive and the sooner we focus on it, the better we are equipped for the meeting." She responds back with an annoyance.

Sensing an argument is about to ensue I turn around and head towards the door.

"Amelia get back here and take a seat." He states with such command it makes me shiver on the inside.

I slowly turn around and head towards the seat.

"Damon, we need to discuss this in length for the..." She begins to say but gets cut off by Mr. Anderson.

"Caroline, we will discuss this further when I am available to discuss this topic. This is the last time I am addressing this issue with you right now. I will call you with a reschedule for our meeting but for now I need you to leave my office so that I can attend to this matter at hand. Do I make myself clear?" His voice boomed through the office at the last sentence letting her know there was nothing to convey after that.

"Yes I understand. I'll wait for your call." She responds while turning around and heading for the door.

As soon as she closes the door, I happen to look up from my notepad and I expect him to be angry after the encounter but instead I find him to be eerily calm.

"Ms. Monroe I want to personally congratulate you on your success after your contribution to this gala." He states.

"Thank you Mr. Anderson but my counterparts were a huge part of it. And the importance is the contribution that will go to the children in need." I say to him with sincerity.

He presents half a smile and seems as though he is about to continue. I take this as my cue before this goes any further.

"Mr. Anderson, I can't thank you enough for the opportunity you have provided me with this project but most importantly while working here at this corporation. I have learned a lot while working here and have made great connections with many coworkers who have given me such great insight on how to navigate this industry. I will forever be grateful for the time I spent here. However, I am formally resigning today." I take this time to turn around and grab the items he's given me and place it on his desk.

I stand up and as I am about to turn around he speaks.

"Amelia sit back down. You're not resigning and those gifts don't have a return policy on them. They're yours to keep. I gifted them to you and in no way shape or form whether you worked here or not would I expect you to turn these back in." He responds just as he is rising from his chair. I can almost feel the heat that is radiating off of him.

I'm not sure what is angering him. Maybe it's because I'm wasting his precious time. But I will not be wasting it any longer.

"Thank you Mr. Anderson but I am resigning today and those are your belongings atleast for the company. And I do not feel comfortable keeping something that belongs to the company." I say to him as I turn around and head to the door.
