Amy's POV:
He's dead set on walking around my apartment until he reaches my room, as he takes a look around. Suddenly he turns around abruptly to face me, which stops me dead in my tracks.
"I was informed that Aiden left the event at the same time that you did. He told Mia that he was coming to your apartment. According to what Aiden said, you and him agreed to meet here." His tone is low and clipped while his chest is heaving up and down.
"Well I don't know why he would say that! And why does that even matter to you! Don't you have other more important things to worry about, like Genoveve?!" I spit back clearly annoyed with this entire interaction.
A small smirk begins to form on his lips but just as quickly as I saw it, it disappeared. It left me wondering if I had even seen it all.
He takes a massive step forward and takes me in his arms.
"Enough of this Amelia. Why do you continue to fight this when you know that deep down you want this too."
I was about to answer him but was swiftly cut off by his lips crashing into mine.
Except this time I didn't cave, I pushed him back with all my might.
I almost stumbled backwards but steadied myself.
"No." I manage to say to him with enough anger laced within my words to let him know that I mean it.
"You don't get to disappear for three weeks with some random woman who by the way, turns out to be your ex fiancée. And think that you can come back here to tell me that I shouldn't fight this anymore. Whatever this is. You pretended to feign interest in me and to care about my issues. When all along all you cared about was your company, albeit rightfully so, which is why I offered to quit, but you didn't allow me to." I take a deep breath before finally finishing whatever this is, once and for all. "So let me make this abundantly clear to you. I will continue to live my life with whomever I deem fit, and you can do the same. I truly do appreciate everything that you have done for me but this ends today." I finish off with a pounding headache that has surged through, ready to end this.
I quickly cross my arms again still aware of the fact that I'm in my comfortable Pj's which only consists of just a large T-shirt with no bra underneath.
"Amelia, I'm not with Genoveve. She arrived here the day you ran into Aiden. She called me because her father's estate was in trouble. When we were engaged, her father proposed to hand me the estate along with his businesses to run in his stead. He didn't have any sons and felt as though neither of his daughters feigned any interest in the company. He felt strongly about not wanting to sell his business, and he hoped that I would handle it after Genoveve and I got married. When she broke off the engagement, after Peyton, she moved to Paris with her sister, and her father experienced a few health issues along the years. Just recently her father has been needing assistance with his company and still has high hopes that I will still take the business and the estate from him."
Before he continues, I decide to question him as I take a seat on my bed with my arms still crossed.
"Why are you telling me any of this?"
"Because you deserve to know, why Genoveve is here. She's handling her father's business on his behalf. I'm not with her despite what everyone seems to think."
"Then why did you show up with her on your arm tonight?!"
I blurt out the question so fast, I didn't even have time to register it in my head.
Realizing what I said, causes me to quickly stand up and turn my back to him, as I scrounge my face in disgust with the stupidity that just flew out of my mouth.
My goodness I sound like a bratty school teenager. GET A GRIP AME's.
"She found out several of the benefactors, who were under the impression they were going to get the business, was at the all black affair event. She proposed we attended so that we can let them know once and for all, I'd be the one taking the business after all. The company won't be officially mine for a couple of weeks until I finish all of the paperwork with the merger with Caroline and all of the newest properties that have just been opened. It was just a formality to let them know." He finished off.
I decide to then turn around only to find a small smile portrayed on his lips.
"Jealous?" He questions as he slowly starts to saunter towards me.
I scoff.
"No. Not in the slightest, in fact I only asked because it made me wonder how you were able to move on so quickly from Cristina, to Caroline & now Genoveve, so easily. I almost feel bad for them in a way." I respond with venom laced in my words, all though deep down I knew the truth.
It was pure jealousy that was compelling me.
His smile quickly fades as he stops in his tracks.
"Cristina was a mistake..."
I let out a laugh as I throw my head back and walk past him as I tell him that he needs to leave.
He grabs me by my arm and pulls me back to him. As he holds on to my left arm with a tight grip he looks down at me and continues to speak.
"Let me finish telling you....and then I'll leave."
I was immobilized. His stare delved deep into my eyes, so deep that it made me wonder how on earth we ended up here.
He slowly released my arm which caused me to look down as I stepped away from him.
"Cristina was a mistake. After Peyton I was lost. I explained this to you on that rooftop. And I meant every word of it. Genoveve left because I no longer served the purpose she signed up for. As time went on, I threw myself into work. One night I was at a bar that she happened to be at as well. She had tried several times before but her advances never worked. Except this time I wasn't caring for much those days. So I slept with her occasionally, and I told her it would be nothing more than that. She understood until her father had a heart attack one night and she called me to help her. As I've mentioned to you before Amelia, family is extremely important to me. So I helped her and guided her through the medical treatments. She was a mess and couldn't even speak around him, and so I intervened for her on several occasions but it was never more than that. I stopped sleeping with her long before you arrived. Except she's had it in her head that I was going to give her more. I've kept her on my team because I felt bad for her and everything that she endured with her father but when she disrespected you at my club the other night, I understood right then and there that I had allowed her to stay on for far too long."
