Amy's POV:

"No way! I cannot believe that I missed all of this? Where was I?"

I laugh at the memory that has just popped into my head.

I begin to recollect my discussion with Mikayla earlier during lunch. I was able to tell her everything that happened Friday night.

Her reaction to everything that I told her was by far the most amusing part of my whole conversation with her. But I cannot seem to shake off what she said about Mr. Anderson.

"I truly am sorry for the way Mr. Anderson acted towards you that night Amy." She says to me with a genuine small smile.

"Why are you apologizing for him, it wasn't your fault?" I say to her while I nibble on the chocolate cupcake she brought me for lunch along with a Vanilla iced coffee.

I smile realizing how nice Mikayla is to me, even after I tried to pay her for the food she still denied me.

She looks down at her hands in her lap before looking back up to me although this time she has a straight face.

"Look I know Mr. Anderson may seem extremely crude at times and maybe even harsh at times but he isn't like any other boss I've ever had or met." She smiles while looking off into the distance as if remembering a memory of sort. "He genuinely cares for his staff. When I lost my father he was extremely understanding and most important he was exceptionally patient with my return. He knew that my father meant a great deal to me and therefore when I lost him to cancer he was more compassionate than anyone has ever been to me and it wasn't in a "he likes me kind of way" or "it's what a boss is supposed to do" type of thing it was more of him being a friend. So for that I will forever be grateful to him for it."

"Oh wow. Mikayla I don't know what to say. I am so sorry... for your loss and for everything that you've been through." I say with as much empathy behind it.

"Thank you. I appreciate it." She seems to be staring off into the distance as she says this. She then appears to snap out of it when she shakes her head and takes a quick look at me except this time she seemed more herself.

"Anyways try not to see him in such a bad light you know. He's a really good guy and he's been through quite a lot himself actually." She finishes while going back to checking her phone.

I quickly realize what she says and decide to question her on it.

"What do you mean by he's been through a lot?" I said.

She looks up at me with sincere eyes to respond with: "I'm sorry Amy, but it's not my story to tell." She shrugs her shoulders while slowly getting up out of her seat.

I smile, understanding exactly what she means by that.

"No worries, I'm sorry I asked." I said.

"You're fine love, but hey I have to return back to work so I'll see you later on okay?" She smiles like her usual self.

"Of course, I do too. I'll catch you later." I finished.

The day passed by in a blur and despite my current worries about Mia, I was able to succumb myself with work.

Before I realize it Mikayla is knocking at my door telling me it's time to go home.

I smile back while silently saying "Thank goodness."

"By the way Mr. Anderson wants you to stop by his office before you head out." She says while texting on her phone.
