Damon's POV:

"That's solid news that you've figured out that he's working with two others, but it's not enough Detective Broner. Your department is trying my patience!! I've agreed to let you handle the case because of your expertise with this matter, and I have a security team following Amelia, but the longer he roams the streets we risk the opportunity of something happening to her. Tonight was a close fucking call!!. I won't allow this to happen again. If it means that I have to hire a private company to figure this out then I will!!."

My chest is heaving up and down with my anger coursing through my veins that by the end of my last sentence to him, I had to close my eyes for a brief second to contain my rage.

And I can't help but to think that perhaps I've made a mistake involving the police department and allowing them to take ahold of this case.

"Mr. Anderson we are doing the very best that we can, the FBI has even been involved with figuring out who he is working with. As soon as we have something, you will be the first to know." His words sounded strong and focused but I could still hear the exhaustion in his voice.

Suddenly as I was about to respond to him, a loud shrieking scream reverberates the walls coming from my room.

"I have to go. We'll discuss more, come Monday morning."

I didn't give him the chance to respond as I was already hanging up the phone getting ready to toss it in the couch.

I break out into a sprint and with every foot that hit the ground, her screams became louder and more frantic the closer I ran towards my room.

By the time that I reach the door I practically run through it not realizing the speed with which I was running here.

The door swings wide open as it slams against the wall with a loud thud. I cross the great distance from the entrance of my room to my bed in short time only to find Amelia still asleep except she's squirming around, her arms thrashing hard.

"Get off me!" Her words filled with fear and anger as she fights whatever or whomever is haunting her in her dreams at this very moment.

She's having a nightmare.

I rush over to the bed and grab her arms as I start to shake her gently at first except she starts to scream the word 'No' the minute I touch her.

"Amelia!" My voice comes out loud and stern as I try to shake her awake.

"Please!...." Her cries are loud and filled with pain behind them.

With every please that she plead, to whoever was harming her in those dreams, my heart ached even harder to wake her from this nightmare.

"Amelia!!." My voice booms once more this time and it causes her to snap awake at the echo that just pulsated through the walls of the room.

Her eyes snap around the room frantically and I urge them to focus on me as I'm still holding on to her arms.

Her eyes finally begin to focus and she seems to realize where exactly she is. "Wh-what happened." Her eyes still wide and clearly bloodshot from the rude awakening of her sleep.

"You were having a nightmare." My voice comes out low and barely recognizable.

I can't fathom what is tormenting her even in her dreams.

How long has she been having these nightmares? Has she always had them?!

If it's Julian, I'll be sure to put an end to these nightmares soon enough.

Even if it means I have to do it myself.

She seems to finally take notice of me still holding on to her arms. "What was the nightmare about?" I question her, causing her head to snap up towards me.

Her eyes catch mine and I can't help but to see the fear slightly flash within her eyes and it causes my anger to almost topple over, but manage to keep it at bay as I watch her open her mouth to respond.

"I-." She quickly begins but looks away and closing her eyes as if she's debating whether or not to tell me.

"Tell me." I urge her. As she's slightly sitting up now despite me still holding onto her arms.

"I thought I was trapped." It took her a while before she spoke again. "And it felt like I never escaped that night." Her voice barely above a whisper by the time that she finishes her sentence, while still looking away.

I let go of her right arm just to grab her chin and I slowly turn her head to face me.

Tears have formed in her eyes and anger pulses through my veins like electricity running through a current, quiet but deadly.

"You're here." I say to her. "You're with me now. I won't let anyone hurt you again."

I decide in that moment that I will take matters into my hands.

Even if it means that Julian has to end up dead.

Whatever it takes.

Whatever it takes, so that I never have to see that pain her eyes again.
