If I wasn't so fucked up I think I'd fuck you all the time

"So, I've heard so much about you, Faye," John said, his tone warm, though there was a hint of formality. He leaned back in his chair, eyes assessing her as if trying to break the ice.

Faye smiled politely. "Good things, I hope?"

He chuckled. "Of course. Marie tells me you're in college."

"Yeah," she nodded, feeling a little stiff under his gaze. "I'm studying English at University of Washington."

"And your boyfriend's in a band. How nice is that?" he glanced over at Kurt, who was sitting comfortably beside her.

Faye smiled, reaching over to touch Kurt's arm. "Yeah, that might be the coolest part of me," she said playfully. He smiled back, a little bashful under the attention.

Just then, one of the house employees approached, asking what they would like to drink. Faye shot Kurt a quick, uncertain look.

"Wine sounds good," she finally said, hoping to ease her nerves.

"Whatever you're having, sir." Kurt added with a casual shrug.

"Whiskey neat, then." John said.

The conversation flowed, though there were seconds of awkwardness. Faye soon found herself bragging a little about her boyfriend. "That's why we're here in California, actually. He's got this amazing opportunity to record a new album. It's a huge deal."

Their drinks were in hand, and Kurt gave Faye a subtle nudge under the table, trying to steer the conversation away from himself. "Faye's just being modest," he said. "Aren't you, honey? She's an incredible writer. College or not, she's got talent."

She blushed, trying to brush off the compliment, but after three glasses of wine she started to feel more at ease, the alcohol giving her a little courage. "So, what's this gathering about?" she asked, tilting her head as she looked from John to Marie.

Marie smiled, gently swirling her own glass of wine. "It's a small business event, nothing too formal. John has some connections coming over, just a few people."

"And what exactly is it that you do?" Faye leaned a little.

Marie glanced at her husband. "Well, John runs an international modeling agency. He's been working with some of the top models and fashion designers around the world. The gathering tonight is mostly a networking event."

John chimed in, nodding. "It's all about building relationships, keeping things running smoothly. A lot of what I do is behind the scenes, making sure the business keeps expanding."

"That's... wow. That's a big deal." Faye blinked, impressed but also feeling a little out of her depth.

"It keeps me busy," John laughed, taking a sip of his whiskey. "But it's rewarding."

Marie, sensing the shift in the conversation, tried to keep things casual. "No pressure, though. It's all casual tonight."

Marie and John excused themselves to get ready for the evening's guests. As they left, John offered a friendly suggestion. "Why don't you two take a stroll on the beach before sundown? It's just lovely out there."

They exchanged a glance, both eager for a moment of peace away from the formalities. "That sounds great." Faye replied.

The waves lapped gently at the beach, and the setting sun cast a golden glow across the water. They took off their shoes letting the sand and ocean breeze work their calming magic.

"Now it all makes sense," she said, kicking at the sand with a hint of sarcasm in her voice. "The guy must be loaded. A model agency? My mom really scored big time."
