They remained intertwined in each other's arms, soaking in the multitude of emotions that enveloped them both. Faye could feel the weight of Kurt's exhaustion, whether to his emotions or even as a result of whatever he had taken last night.
"I still have one more thing to tell you," he finally broke the silence, his words causing Faye's heart to quicken with worry.
"What is it?" her mind racing with anticipation.
"We're going on a small tour in England in a few weeks," he revealed with apprehension and excitement. "SubPop wants us to promote our Silver EP there, apparently there's been quite a buzz among Seattle bands in England so we should seize the opportunity."
Faye relaxed as she processed the news. "Oh, that's fantastic, Kurt," she exclaimed, though the unexpected announcement caught her off guard.
"It's just for a couple of days, a week at most," his weariness evident as he lay in her arms, practically anticipating the exhaustion from the upcoming gigs. "We're leaving on the 22nd."
"You don't sound too thrilled about it," she observed, sensing his reservations.
"I'm not sure how it'll turn out," his hands running through his hair in a gesture of uncertainty.
"But you guys have such great chemistry," she reassured him with confidence. "I'm sure it'll be amazing."
"I'll miss you," Kurt murmured softly, as if he didn't want her to hear it. Faye left out a timid smile and planted a tender kiss on his forehead, reciprocating his sentiment.
"It's only for a few days," she reminded him. "We've been managing the Seattle-Olympia distance just fine."
Kurt chuckled, realizing the truth in her words. Distance hadn't been an obstacle for them before, though they both longed for more time together.
"Alright, let's focus on something fun while we're together," Kurt suggested, his spirits lifting. "What do you want to do?"
A smile lit up her face as she observed his relaxed and excited demeanor all of a sudden.
"I don't know, Kurt. You tell me, I barely know Olympia..."
"Oh, c'mon. You went and explored the city on your own today. C'mon, anything you wish," his eyes shining with eagerness.
"What about... you take me to get some milkshakes? I could kill for one right now," she suggested with a giggle.
"That sounds just perfect," he agreed, leaning in to kiss her forehead. "Consider it a date. I'll just grab a shirt, and we're good to go."
As he left to retrieve his shirt, Faye couldn't help but marvel at the ever-changing dynamics of their relationship. Despite the challenges they faced, she found enormous joy in Kurt's presence, and everything seemed like a little new unexpected adventure by his side.
"I'm telling you, they have the best milkshakes over here," Kurt remarked, holding the door open for her as they entered a corner diner. It was quiet, with only a solitary guy sitting at the counter and the waitress bustling about.
"I'm having a strawberry milkshake," Kurt promptly announced as the waitress approached.
"And I'll have... vanilla," Faye added with a smile.
"I'll be back in a second with your orders," the waitress promised before disappearing into the kitchen. As soon as she left, Kurt made a funny expression.
"Vanilla? Really? Of all those flavors out there," he teased.
"Oh well, guess I'm pretty basic and boring after all. And now you're stuck with me," she said in an ironic tone.
