"So, what did he say?" Amy inquired eagerly as soon as Faye hung up the phone.

She chuckled, amused by her friend's excitement. "They're looking for a new drummer. And they're putting up auditions here in Seattle, early September."

Amy frowned slightly. "What's wrong with the old one?"

"Kurt says they were having different artistic visions, essentially. And he didn't think Chad was fitting into where the band is heading," Faye explained.

"Oh, that's a shame," Amy exclaimed. "Chad was really cute. But hey, you're meeting Kurt real soon! September is just around the corner. But that's weird that they don't live in Seattle. I mean, here is where everything happens."

"Yeah, but Kurt can't afford it here. Olympia seems like a better option for them, at least for now," Faye clarified.

Amy's eyes lit up with an idea. "Oh, shoot, I forgot they're in Olympia! I'm going back home this weekend. What do you say we go together? You can stay at my house, and you guys can meet."

Faye promptly accepted her suggestion. "That would be perfect." The opportunity to spend more time with Kurt made she look even more forward to the weekend than the usual.

Faye opted to keep her plan to see Kurt in Olympia a secret, wanting to surprise him and see the look of shock on his face. Although she knew it was a bit risky, she figured the worst-case scenario would be spending a weekend at her friend's house.

Friday arrived sooner than expected, and Faye found herself at the bus station with Amy, waiting for the next bus to Olympia. "Okay, I got us the tickets. We're probably arriving around 7 pm. We can head home, have dinner, and then, it's really up to you, Faye," Amy said, already anticipating her friend's likely course of action.

As soon as the girls arrived in Olympia, Amy's parents were waiting for them at the station. "Hello, mother, hello, father. This is Faye, my roommate," Amy introduced them. "Faye, this is my mom, Linda, and this is my father, James."

"Pleasure to meet you, Faye," Amy's mother greeted her with a warm hug.

"Shall I help you both with your bags?" Her father stepped in promptly. The drive to Amy's house showcased Olympia, a city with its own vibrant charm, quite different from Faye's hometown. It was, in fact, Faye's first time in the city.

"It looks so nice in here," she whispered to Amy.

Amy lived in a beautiful place in a quite fancy neighborhood, and Faye was in awe of how elegantly put together her house was. "Please, feel at home, Faye," her father opened the door and motioned for the girls to enter. Amy asked Faye to follow her and settled her in the guest room. "Okay, so get set up in here, meet us downstairs for dinner in 10 minutes."

"Okay, wait, can I use the phone?" Faye motioned to the one hanging by a bookshelf.

"Yeah, go ahead and call Kurt," Amy quipped as she stepped out of the room.

Before she started settling in, she ran to the phone, dialing each number intently, as she knew it by heart now. "Hello?" a familiar feminine voice answered. It was Shelli.

"Shelli? This is Faye," she said, a little upset, hoping Kurt would be the one to answer.

"Oh, hi Faye! How's everything up in Seattle?"

"Well, actually, that's why I'm calling. I'm in Olympia for the weekend." Excitement filling her voice.

"That's such great news! Do you want me to put Kurt on the phone? I think he is taking a nap, but I'm sure he won't mind."
