It was early in the morning, and once they got back in the car, it didn't take long for Faye to doze off. Kurt's smooth voice and the ocean driveaway felt so lulling that she couldn't resist but fall into a soft slumber. She didn't even take the time to ask where they were headed to, for she trusted him so much it didn't even cross her mind.

Faye had always been the type of person who needed a lead, despite always having her focus and goals on point. She thrived on structure and direction, but with Kurt, she found a different kind of guidance. It wasn't about telling her what to do or where to go; it was about trusting her instincts and following her heart, which at this point was devoted to him.

Kurt glanced over, her peaceful expression bringing a small smile to his lips. He knew she needed this, a moment of rest after the emotional rollercoaster of the evening. As he continued to drive, he couldn't help but marvel at how effortlessly they slipped into sync with each other.

As they drove along the coastline, the sun began to rise higher in the sky, casting a warm glow over everything it touched. Kurt couldn't resist stealing glances at Faye, admiring the way the sunlight danced across her features, highlighting the freckles on her cheeks and the soft curve of her lips. Faye slowly began to stir from her slumber. She blinked groggily, the increasing sunlight filtering through the window and warming her face. Rubbing her eyes, she took a quick look around, trying to get her bearings.

"Oh, you're awake," Kurt's voice broke through, and she turned to see him smiling at her. "We're almost in Aberdeen."

She couldn't help but feel a sense of surprise at Kurt's announcement, but she decided to hold off on asking any questions for the time being. Instead, she simply nodded, feeling a mixture of excitement and anticipation building within her.

As Kurt extended his arm, reaching his hand over her thigh, Faye shifted her gaze to the surroundings of the city. She leaned into his touch, feeling a sense of comfort and security in his presence. The road leading into Aberdeen was lined with towering evergreen trees, their branches swaying gently in the crisp autumn breeze. Despite the chill in the air, the sun bathed the landscape .

Before entering the city limits, Kurt steered the car into a diner right beside the road. "Let's grab some breakfast," he said, swinging the door open.

Faye followed suit, stretching her legs as she exited the vehicle. "Sounds good," she replied, already smelling the aroma of coffee wafting from the diner.

Inside, they went straight to a booth near the window. Kurt slid into one side while Faye settled into the other. He motioned for the menu, already knowing what he wanted. "Pancakes here are unbeatable," he informed her.

"Perfect," she nodded, feeling a slight twinge of a headache. She reached for her pack of cigarettes, her hand pausing midway.

"Is everything alright?" Kurt inquired, noticing her hesitation as he lit up her cigarette and then his own.

"Yeah, just a bit of a headache coming on," she admitted, her expression twisting with discomfort.

Kurt chuckled knowingly. "The classic mix of vodka and wine strikes again," he teased gently, sipping his coffee. "I keep telling you, moderation is key."

Faye rolled her eyes playfully. "Yeah, yeah, I know," she replied, taking a sip of her own coffee. "But sometimes, moderation is easier said than done."

"True," Kurt leaned back comfortably in the booth, conceding since he understood it very well . "But hey, at least we've got pancakes to cure what ails us."

Faye could no longer contain her burning curiosity, "I have to ask," she found herself saying, using the edge of her fork to delicately segment her golden-brown pancakes, the stickiness of the maple syrup adding a hint of resistance. "Why exactly are we in Aberdeen?"
