Bakugo strides into Rio's study, his expression hard and his posture tense. The air in the room is thick with unspoken tension, both men fully aware of the stakes at play. Rio sits behind his desk, a calm but calculating look on his face as Bakugo approaches.
"I want control over my group," Bakugo says firmly, his voice leaving no room for argument. "We don't work for anyone."
Rio leans back in his chair, a smirk playing on his lips. "Rosalia warned me... that you'd be tough to deal with," he says in broken Japanese, his tone teasing but not without an edge. "But, I'm not backing down. You're strong, but this isn't about just you."
The tension in the room thickens as Rio shifts tactics, his smirk fading into something more serious. He leans forward slightly, his eyes narrowing as he brings up a subject that hits closer to home for Bakugo.
"You love her, don't you? Rosalia... she told me. She loves you. Do you feel the same for my cousin?" There's a challenge in his voice, as if he's daring Bakugo to admit his feelings out loud.
Bakugo's eyes narrow, his jaw tightening. "What the hell is he playing at?" He says nothing, but the tension in his body betrays his emotions.
Rio's smirk returns, his tone more confident now. "I have her back. She's home. Her quirk is priceless to me—to this family. I need her to stay... to help us fight against heroes, against rivals." His voice hardens slightly. "I won't let her leave again."
As Rio's words sink in, the implications become painfully clear. He's not just talking about keeping Rose around for family matters—this is about power, control, and her quirk's value. Bakugo's mind races as Rio delivers the final blow.
"If you think you can take her away... you're gravely mistaken," Rio says, his smirk turning cold. "She's not just a girl. She's a weapon. My weapon. And I need her here, at home."
Bakugo's heart drops at Rio's words, a wave of panic crashing over him. He's been through hell—months of imprisonment, fighting tooth and nail to get back to Rose, to reclaim his place with her. And now Rio is telling him that he might lose her all over again. "I'm not letting that happen. Not again."
He clenches his fists, but he forces himself to stay calm, even as his mind races. He needs control—of his group, of his future—but he can't lose her in the process.
"You think you need her?" Bakugo snaps, his voice low and dangerous. "You're right—her quirk is priceless. But you don't know how it works. You don't know what the hell happens when she's not with me."
Rio raises an eyebrow, intrigued but not entirely convinced.
"Her quirk goes rabid without me," Bakugo continues, stepping closer to Rio's desk. "I'm her lifeline. Without me, she'll lose control. She can't survive without taking my energy."
Rio's smirk fades slightly, and Bakugo can tell his words are starting to land.
"I'm not just asking to take her away," Bakugo says, his voice steady. "I'm telling you—she needs me."
The room falls into silence as Rio considers Bakugo's words. There's a flicker of doubt in his eyes, but he's not ready to back down completely. This negotiation isn't over yet.
"We'll see," Rio says slowly, leaning back in his chair once more. "But if you think this is over... you're mistaken."
Bakugo's eyes narrow, but he says nothing more. He knows the battle for control isn't finished—but he's not walking away without Rose by his side.
