The team is moving through the city under cover of night. They're approaching the secondary supply points they plan to hit simultaneously, using them as distractions to divert the heroes' attention. Bakugo and Rose are moving ahead stealthily, while Kirishima, Kaminari, and Sero split off to their respective targets.
Bakugo keeps his eyes forward, his senses sharp. He knows the mission is risky, and he's trying to focus on the objective. But he's also hyper-aware of Rose beside him. She moves quietly and efficiently, almost matching his pace. It's hard not to notice how well she's handling herself.
Rose whispers with a smirk, "So, Bakugo, this is usually how you do things? All stealth and no boom? Doesn't seem like your style."
Bakugo grumbles, "I know when to be quiet, dumbass. You don't get far by blowing everything up all the time."
Rose continues to tease, "Could've fooled me. I thought your whole thing was boom first, questions later."
Bakugo glances at her, a hint of annoyance in his eyes, "You're really enjoying this, aren't you?"
Rose grins, "Oh, absolutely. Watching you try to be stealthy is the highlight of my week."
Bakugo grits his teeth, but there's a flicker of amusement in his eyes. He knows she's trying to rile him up, but he's determined not to let her get to him.
They arrive at the perimeter of the communication hub, a large building with multiple floors and several guards patrolling the exterior. Bakugo signals for Rose to take the lead, using her quirk to drain strength and energy if they get caught. He watches her carefully, still testing her, waiting to see if she's as capable as she claims.
Rose slips ahead, moving silently. She catches sight of a guard, waits for the right moment, and then quickly closes the distance, her hand making contact with his arm. She feels his energy draining into her, and within seconds, he slumps to the ground, unconscious.
Rose whispers softly over her shoulder, "One down. Plenty more to go. Think you can keep up Bakugo?"
Bakugo grins slightly, "Just try not to slow me down, dumbass."
They continue moving through the shadows, taking down guards silently and quickly. As they work, they start to find a rhythm – Bakugo uses his agility to get close and distract, while Rose swoops in and drains the guards' energy. It's a surprisingly efficient combination, and despite themselves, they start to enjoy the synergy.
At one point, they take out two guards simultaneously, almost in perfect sync. They look at each other, bot a little surprised at how well they're working together.
Rose smirks, "Not bad, boss man. I might actually be impressed."
Bakugo smirks back, "You should be. But don't get cocky, dumbass."
Rose teases, "Too late. I'm already cocky."
Bakugo shakes his head, a smile playing at the corner of his lips. He doesn't want to admit it, but he's enjoying this.
They reach the entrance to the communication hub. Bakugo signals for Rose to hold, then slowly opens the door. Inside, they find several heroes monitoring security feeds. Bakugo gestures for Rose to follow his lead.
They head in, Rose following Bakugo closely. They both know this will be the real test. If they can take out the heroes quickly and quietly, they'll have access to the hub's data without alerting the rest of the facility.
Bakugo whispers, "You take the left; I'll take the right. Keep it quiet."
Rose whispers back, "What, no explosions?"
Bakugo barely suppresses a grin, "Not yet. But don't tempt me, dammit."
They move into position. Rose reaches out, her hand brushing against the back of a hero's neck, draining his energy just as he starts to turn around. He collapses quietly into her arms, and she lowers him to the ground without a sound.
Meanwhile, Bakugo takes out his target with a precise, controlled explosion – a small concentrated blast that knocks the hero out without causing too much noise or damage. He catches Rose watching him, a look of genuine surprise on her face.
Rose states softly, "Alright, I admit, that was impressive."
Bakugo grins, his ego boosted, "Told you I know when to use the damn big guns."
Rose banters back playfully, "You're just full of surprises tonight, aren't you?"
Bakugo lightly teases back, "Maybe you'll get to see more if you stop talking and keep moving, dammit."
They continue deeper into the hub, taking out guards and heroes as they go. There's a sense of challenge between them, each trying to outdo the other, but also a strange camaraderie that neither wants to acknowledge.
They reach the control room where the main comms equipment is housed. Several more heroes are inside, along with a technician working on the console. Bakugo signals Rose to get ready.
Bakugo glances at rose, his expression serious.
"Alright, this is it. We take them out, grab the data, and get out. Fast and clean."
Rose sends him a wink, "Fast and clean. Got it. But if I do better than you, you owe me dinner."
Bakugo raises an eyebrow, smirking, "You're on. But don't whine when you lose, dumbass."
They burst into the room, moving like a well-oiled machine. Rose drains the energy from the nearest hero, while Bakugo uses a controlled blast to disarm another. They work in tandem, taking down the opposition with surprising efficiency.
As they finish off the last hero, they both find themselves grinning, adrenaline coursing through their veins.
Rose lets out a breathless laugh, "Okay, I have to admit, this is fun."
Bakugo grins back, "Yeah, it is. Don't get used to it, dammit."
Rose teases, "Too late. I think you're actually starting to like me."
Bakugo snaps back, "Don't push it, dumbass."
They access the main console, and Rose quickly begins downloading the data they need. Bakugo keeps an eye on the door, watching for any signs of incoming heroes. She notices the way Bakugo stays alert, his posture tense but confident. Despite his gruff exterior, she sees the way he's constantly thinking ahead, anticipating every move.
Rose softly speaks, teasing, "You know, you're not so bad at this. Almost makes me forget you're a control freak."
Bakugo scuffs, amused, "Almost?"
Rose smiles, "Almost."
The data finishes downloading, and they're ready to move out. Just as they turn to leave, they hear a noise – a group of heroes approaching fast.
Bakugo gets serious, "Damn, we've got company. Let's move!"
They sprint for the exit, working together seamlessly to evade the incoming heroes. As they run, Rose can't help but laugh, exhilarated by the thrill of the mission and the unexpected enjoyment of working with Bakugo. They make it out of the building just as more heroes arrive. Bakugo uses a series of small explosions to create a smoke screen, and they slip away into the night.
He breathes heavily, adrenaline still pumping. He glances at Rose, who's grinning like she just won a game.
Bakugo speaks, annoyed but amused, "What are you smiling about, dumbass?"
Rose grins wider, "Just thinking about how well we did. Admit it, Bakugo, we make a pretty good team."
Bakugo grumbles, "Maybe. Dammit, but don't get used to it."
Rose teases, "Oh, Iwill."
