The room is filled with quiet tension as both groups huddle over maps and blueprints, making final tweaks to their strategy for the upcoming mission. Rio stands at the head of the table, directing everyone's attention to the final pairings.
"Rosalia," Rio calls out, looking at her across the table. "You're with Diego. You two have always worked well together."
Bakugo stiffens at the sound of Diego's name, his jaw tightening. "No way in hell." He glares across the table at Rio. "That's not happening," he says, his voice low but laced with a dangerous edge.
Rio raises an eyebrow, clearly not used to being questioned. "Rose and Diego are a good team," he explains, his tone calm but firm. "They've got a history of working well together."
"Maybe they did," Bakugo snaps, his eyes burning with intensity. "But me and Rosalia work better together now." His words hang heavy in the air, carrying an unspoken meaning—I'm better for her than Diego will ever be.
Rose steps forward, her voice steady but respectful as she addresses her cousin. "Bakugo's right," she says, meeting Rio's gaze. "Our quirks work well together. We've learned how to fight as a unit, and I'm more effective with him."
Rio hesitates, clearly not pleased with being defied. His eyes flicker between her and Bakugo, the tension in the room palpable. "Rosalia..." he begins, his tone edged with authority, but seeing the determination in her eyes, he falters.
Rio exhales through his nose, clearly annoyed but unwilling to push the issue further. He nods slowly, his voice tight with control. "Fine. You can work with your... man," he says, the word carrying a hint of amusement as he acknowledges their relationship.
Bakugo smirks, satisfied with the outcome. He pulls Rosalia a little closer, sending a message to everyone in the room: She's mine.
Just as the tension begins to settle, a soft but commanding tap of a cane echoes through the room. The group turns, eyes widening as Grandma enters the room, her posture straight and steady despite her frail appearance. She moves with purpose, her sharp eyes surveying everyone present.
Kaminari leans toward Kirishima, whispering in disbelief. "Is that... Grandma? What's she doing here?"
"I thought she was just here to watch or something," Sero mutters, clearly surprised.
Rose notices her group's confusion and chuckles softly. "Don't underestimate her," she says, glancing at her grandmother with pride. "Grandma can handle her own. She's tougher than she looks."
Bakugo watches asGrandma makes her way to the table, his gaze shifting from her to Rose. Hetrusts her words, but there's still a part of him that wonders just how muchGrandma can contribute to the mission.
