Chapter 44

The fight is over, the hero captured and restrained by Todoroki's ice. Rose, however, remains unconscious on the ground, her body still recovering from the reflection of her own quirk. The group gathers around her, concern etched on their faces as they try to figure out how to move her.

"We need to get her out of here," Kirishima says, his voice tight with worry. He moves to lift her, but the moment he touches her, he feels a strange sensation—like his energy is being sapped. He jerks his hand back, glancing at the others. "Her quirk's still active..."

Todoroki steps forward, his brow furrowing as he kneels beside her. "I'll carry her," he says calmly, reaching for her. The moment his hand makes contact, he feels it—the same warmth he'd felt the first time she took his energy. It spreads through him, slow but steady, and for a brief moment, he hesitates, enjoying the sensation.

As Todoroki holds Rose, his energy slowly draining, he can't help but want to maintain the contact, even though he knows it's dangerous. He glances down at her, feeling a strange connection, but knows deep down that she doesn't feel the same for him.

Bakugo watches the exchange, his blood boiling as he sees the way Todoroki lingers. His fists clench, and before he can stop himself, he storms over. "Enough," Bakugo snaps, his voice sharp with jealousy. He steps between Todoroki and Rose, his eyes blazing. "I'll carry her."

Todoroki looks up, his expression calm despite Bakugo's outburst. "She needs to be carried carefully. She's still draining energy, and she could—"

"I said I'll carry her," Bakugo growls, cutting him off. He reaches down and scoops her into his arms, feeling the familiar pull of her quirk immediately. But unlike Todoroki, Bakugo doesn't hesitate. He knows he can handle it—knows that no matter how much energy she takes, he won't run out. His jaw tightens as he holds her close. "She doesn't need your help."

Todoroki watches Bakugo carefully, his gaze lingering on Rose. He can sense Bakugo's possessiveness, but he also knows that her well-being comes first. Still, the tension between them is palpable.

"You're acting like she belongs to you," Todoroki says quietly, his tone neutral but edged with curiosity. He's not trying to provoke Bakugo, but the dynamic between them is becoming clearer.

Bakugo's eyes flash with anger. "She's not yours to touch," he says firmly, his voice low and dangerous. "I'm the one she needs. Not you."

Kaminari glances between Bakugo and Todoroki, sensing the tension but saying nothing. He knows better than to get involved when Bakugo's in this kind of mood. "We heading back to the hideout?" he asks, trying to break the silence.

"Yeah," Bakugo mutters, his voice gruff. He shifts Rose slightly in his arms, making sure she's comfortable. He turns to Todoroki, his expression hard. "Don't ever ask for our help again."

Todoroki raises an eyebrow, clearly not expecting Bakugo's harsh words. "We work together when it benefits both of us," he replies calmly. "But if that's how you feel..."

"That's how I feel," Bakugo snaps, his eyes narrowing. "You keep your distance from her. Next time, we won't be there to clean up your mess."
