The air in Rio's study is heavy with silence, save for the faint scratching of pen on paper as Rio works. Rose sits nearby, her thoughts in turmoil. She knows what Rio told Bakugo—that he wouldn't let her leave again. But she keeps that knowledge to herself, for now.
"I love Bakugo. I would follow him anywhere. But... can I really leave Rio and Grandma?" She watches her cousin from the corner of her eye, feeling the weight of her family's expectations pressing down on her. It's the same weight she's felt ever since she was a child, trained to live the villainous life.
Rio continues working, occasionally glancing at Rose, but he doesn't break the silence. He trusts that she'll stay. After all, family is everything.
In another part of the compound, Grandma requests a private conversation with Bakugo. Her broken Japanese makes it difficult to understand her at times, but Bakugo knows this conversation is important.
"Bakugo," Grandma begins, her voice soft but firm. "I need truth from you... what you say next, it decides everything." She pauses, her cane tapping lightly on the floor. "Do you love my granddaughter?"
Bakugo stiffens, not expecting such a direct question. He hesitates, the weight of the moment sinking in. He's never been good with emotions—especially love—but he knows this isn't the time to dodge the question. He takes a breath before finally speaking. "Yeah... I love her."
Grandma nods, as if she already knew his answer but needed to hear it aloud. "I thought so," she mutters, her voice barely above a whisper. "Rio... he won't let her leave. He wants her close... for his own reasons. But I know bad people will come after her. They already have eyes on her, and I can't let that happen."
Bakugo listens, his jaw tightening at the thought of more people targeting Rose. "What are you saying?" he asks, his voice low.
"I'm saying... take her. Take your group and go. Leave before it's too late. I love my granddaughter, but I can't protect her from what's coming. You can." Grandma's eyes narrow, and her tone hardens slightly. "And one more thing... I never liked that sleazy Diego. Keep her away from him."
Bakugo lets Grandma's words sink in. He knows she's right. There's a storm brewing, and staying here puts Rose at risk—not just from her family, but from the people who are targeting her. He nods to Grandma, grateful for her honesty. "I'll take care of her," he says quietly.
With that, Bakugosteps out of the room and gathers his group—minus Rosalia—for an urgentmeeting. His expression is determined, his mind already racing with plans. Thisis the moment where everything changes...again.
