"We the city of Memphis find Mr. Miles, not guilty."

The gavel banged and I began to cry tears of joy as Sha was released from his hand cuffs. We all stood up as he turned around to his family and friends waving and smiling. You could tell a burden was lifted off him just by his posture. I couldn't stop smiling even if I wanted to. I fixed my blouse ready to give him the biggest hug I could.

"I'm so happy for you baby!" Camari screamed as she jumped up in his arms pecking his lips. I felt my smile fading as I stepped back letting them have their moment. She wouldn't let him go, causing the others to go and hug him anyways. I didn't wanna hug her though, I just wanted to hug him.

"I love you." Sha pecked her forehead rubbing his hand across her stomach.

I looked away grabbing my purse before excusing myself out the courtroom. I flipped my hair over my shoulders walking down the hallway teary eyed. It's like no matter how hard I tried I always came out last. I felt so angry with Camari, but I knew that the unnecessary bickering wouldn't do anything but make shit worse. Plus, like she said, our kids will be siblings now.

"Yo Makenzie, wait up!" Dee jogged catching up with me, "Man he's out, aren't you happy? Come on we prayed about this last night man."

"Words can't express how happy I am." I nodded trying not to cry.

"You okay?" He looked into my eyes, "Is there something wrong? I thought this was what you wanted."

"I'm fine, just, over joyed. These are happy tears I promise." I laughed it off and he didn't push the situation any further. He threw his arm over my shoulder as we excite the double doors. I took his hand as my heels clacked against the pavement. My hair flowed as the breeze passed giving me a taste of fresh air, it was very much needed.

"You look beautiful, did Sha see you?"

I laughed nervously, "No, I don't think he did. I sat in the back away from everyone. Just needed to show up and support."

"Man what, come on he gotta see you." Dee stopped walking letting my hand go. "You've been talking about him for the last past three weeks and you just wanna fade into the background? Man if you don't come on and show him you came to support."

"Camari is here too, they're in there right now being a family—"

"So what you're his family too. What makes you think that she deserves to be here more than you? They've only been together for a few months and y'all shit runs deeper than that. Y'all were kids when shit happened, and y'all have a total of three now. I'm not saying that time matters, because it doesn't, but damn give yourself some grace."
