Hugh:

"What the fuck Hugh?" I was getting my books from my locker at the end of the day, when I hear her voice.

"What do you want Liz?" I say looking just above her to avoid her eyes, her piercing blue eyes that held so much sorrow.

"You told her?"

"Told what to who?"

"You told Katie about my cutting?"

"What are you talking about?"

"Then why was she looking at me like that?" Liz is talking so loud now she's practically yelling.

"Like what?"

"Like she pitied me, did you tell her my whole sob story? How you keep showing up uninvited to my house, so you can feel like a hero?" Liz wielded her words like a sword, she always knew where to strike, and wouldn't let up until she drew blood.

"I didn't tell her about that."

"But you told her something?"

"I told her..." I shift awkwardly, "About us, and what happened with Caoimhe."

"You had no right, to tell her about my sister."

"Half the town knows what happened, and I do have the right, she's my girlfriend."

"Oh yeah, she's a keeper, that one." She says her tone laced with snark and sarcasm.

"What the hell is that supposed to mean?" I hated that I cared about her opinion, that after everything I still let her so much power over me.

"She's got the personality of white bread."

"What is your problem?"

"You just like her because you like taking care of her and speaking for her and being her whole god damn world."

"What is your problem with her? You broke up with me remember?"

"Yeah, I remember" She deadpans.

"So don't get mad at me for moving on, you didn't honestly expect me to wait around for you did you? After what you did? Did you think we'd just go back to how it was when we were kids?"

"I'm not...Just forget it, and stop discussing me with her."

"I know this must come as a shock Lizzie, but the world doesn't actually revolve around you, we don't spend our time talking about you." She remains silent, but I'm angry in a way I haven't felt in a long time, "And stop giving her such a hard time, she's done nothing to ya."

"That's where you're wrong, her very existence offends me."

"What is that supposed to mean?"

"She's just so... weak and fragile, I don't know how you can be with her." Katie was fragile but so was Lizzie, but where Kate was fragile like glass, Lizzie was fragile like a bomb.

"She's not any of those things, have you even had a conversation with her?" She just looks at me defiantly, "Whatever, just leave Katie and I alone, and out of your drama."

With that I slam my locker door shut and walk away, Lizzie gets me worked up in a way no one else can, I sometimes think she's been put on this earth to torture me, repeatedly break my heart, and haunt me.
