As Sari typed away on her laptop, her attention was briefly pulled by a movement beside her. She glanced over to find Miyuki, her daughter, casually leaning against the table, her little legs swinging back and forth.
But something stopped Sari in her tracks a dark bruise on Miyuki's elbow and a faint mark on her leg. Concern flashed in her eyes as she reached out to examine them.
"Miyuki, what happened here?" she asked, her voice laced with worry.
Miyuki smiled and shrugged it off, giving a small laugh. "I just tripped, Mommy," she replied, brushing her mother’s concern away with a lightheartedness only a child could have.
With Miyuki busy playing in another room, Sari found a quiet moment to sit down with her mom. They were in the cozy kitchen of her parents' house, the familiar warmth of home surrounding them.
Sari leaned forward, her voice low, as she shared her concern about the bruises on Miyuki's elbow and legs.
Her mom listened attentively, her face reflecting understanding.
"Sari, I know it’s hard not to worry, especially with everything going on," she said softly, placing a reassuring hand on Sari.
"Pero normal lang mag karoon ng pasa ang kasing edad niya. It’s part of their curiosity and exploring the world."
Sari took a deep breath, feeling comforted by her mom's calm. "Masyado ata akong nag ooverthink, Mom. I just… I can’t help but worry. Especially with her symptoms from before."
Her mom nodded, squeezing Sari's hand gently. "Naiintindihan ko. Totoong ina ka na nga anak. Ganyan na ganyan din akong mag alala sa inyo ng kuya mo nung mga bata pa kayo."
As Sari and her mom were finishing up their conversation, her phone rang. She glanced at the screen to see Scarlet’s name flashing. Picking up, Sari heard Scarlet's cheerful voice on the other end.
“Sari! pumunta ka ngayon sa bahay We’re hosting my bridal shower, and it wouldn’t be complete without you two here.”
Sari hesitated, glancing at her mom, who gave her an encouraging nod. “Sige, Scarlet,” Sari replied with a smile. “We’ll be there soon.”
After hanging up, Sari helped Miyuki gather her things, feeling a mix of excitement and slight apprehension.
Arriving at Scarlet's house, Sari was greeted with a warm hug and the lively buzz of laughter filling the room. The bridal shower was in full swing, with decorations, flowers, and a beautifully set table filled with food and drinks.
As the evening went on, the atmosphere became even more lively. Mira shared some funny stories about adjusting to life with twins, making everyone laugh as she recounted the chaos of sleepless nights and endless diaper changes.
Tacia teased her, saying, "ngayon mo sabihing ma enjoy mag karoon ng anak. Habang buhay na talaga ako magiging rich tita sa mga anak niyo" which brought another round of laughter.
Sari felt a wave of gratitude for moments like these. She looked over at Miyuki, who was giggling as she helped pass around treats to everyone,
clearly enjoying herself among her mom's close friends. Miyuki even found herself gently holding one of Mira’s twins, her face lighting up as the baby looked at her with wide, curious eyes.
In a quiet moment, Scarlet pulled Sari aside. "I'm so glad you both came. I know you've had a lot on your mind," she said, her voice soft with understanding. "You and Miyuki deserve this joy as much as anyone."
Sari smiled, feeling comforted. "Thank you, Scarlet. Sobrang saya ko din na kompleto na tayo, it reminds me that no matter what, we have each other."
The night ended with Scarlet opening gifts, surrounded by her friends, laughter, and heartfelt wishes for her future.
As Sari gathered Miyuki to head home, she felt lighter, grateful for the love and friendship that filled the room a reminder of the strength they shared, no matter the challenges that lay ahead.
Mira was there, balancing her adorable twin babies, who had everyone wrapped around their little fingers with their giggles and tiny smiles.
Tacia joined in, laughing as she handed one of the twins to Sari, who instantly melted at the baby's chubby cheeks. Miyuki giggled as she peeked at the babies, her curiosity piqued by the tiny pair.
The friends spent the evening sharing stories, laughter, and memories, surrounded by warmth and love. They toasted to Scarlet’s new chapter, the bonds they’d built over the years stronger than ever. For a little while, Sari’s worries faded as she enjoyed this precious moment with her friends and Miyuki by her side.
