That night, Sari found herself standing on the beach, alone beneath the vast, dark sky. The gentle sound of the waves lapping at the shore was a stark contrast to the storm raging inside her heart.

Memories of the day she had once cried out her pain to Gio on this very sand flooded her mind, but tonight was different her sorrow was deeper, rawer.

The moon cast a pale glow across the water as Sari dropped to her knees, her shoulders trembling as tears streamed down her face.

The weight of Miyuki’s diagnosis felt like a crushing force, suffocating her, and all she could do was surrender to the grief tearing her apart.

With a shaky breath, she looked up at the sky and let out a piercing scream, the sound echoing over the waves.

“bakit?! Bakit sa anak ko pa?” she cried, her voice breaking into sobs. Her fists pounded the sand, each strike fueled by the desperation and helplessness she felt.

She felt anger, sorrow, and the unbearable ache of a mother watching her child slip away, and it was tearing her apart.

“Pwde bang sa'kin nalang, masyado pang bata si Yuki para maranasan to!” she shouted, her voice raw and choked with tears. “I tied everything … but it’s not enough… it’s never enough.”

The beach offered no answers, only the quiet sympathy of the endless ocean. Sari sobbed into her hands, her body wracked with anguish.

As Sari knelt on the sand, her sobs carried across the quiet beach, and a figure walking along the shore stopped, captivated by the sound.

Gio’s heart skipped as she recognized the familiar silhouette, the curve of the shoulders, the way the figure’s head tilted downward. She hadn’t seen her in so long, but some things were unforgettable.

Her breath caught as she walked closer, her eyes widening with each step. When the moonlight illuminated the woman’s face, Gio’s world froze. It was Sari the girl who had once been her everything, the love she had tried to bury deep within her heart for the past six years.

Gio’s hands trembled as tears welled up in her eyes, the flood of memories, love, and longing overwhelming her.

She could see Sari’s face streaked with tears, a look of raw pain and despair that shattered Gio’s heart. She took a step forward, her voice stuck in her throat, barely able to process the moment.

“Sari…” she whispered, her voice a soft tremble carried away by the wind.

Hearing the faint, familiar voice, Sari looked up, her tear-stained face showing a mixture of shock and disbelief. Her heart thudded as her gaze landed on Gio, standing a few feet away, her own tears glistening under the moonlight.

As Sari looked up and met Gio’s gaze, she felt a rush of emotions love, pain, and the hurt that Gio had left behind years ago.

Sari’s heart clenched, the memories too fresh, too painful. She swallowed hard, her voice barely audible. “buhay ka pa pala?” she managed, her tone carrying the weight of all the hurt she’d tried to bury.

Gio’s eyes softened, and she reached out, placing her hands on Sari’s shoulders. “I never stopped thinking about you… about us,” she whispered, her voice thick with emotion. “I needed to see you again, to know you’re okay.”

Sari took a shaky breath, her eyes locked on the sand below. “Six years, Gio. Six years, at ngayon mag papakita ka ng parang walang nangyari?”

Gio’s hands fell to her sides as she absorbed the raw pain in Sari’s words. “I… I know I made mistakes, Sari. But please, I just wanted to… to hold you, even if just for a moment.”

Sari felt her eyes fill with tears as the hurt she’d carried all these years came rushing to the surface.

“Hold me?” she said, her voice breaking. “Bakit? nasaan kaba nung mga panahon na kailangan kita? nung panahon na halos mabaliw ako sa kaka isip kung bakit bigla ka nalang hindi nag paramdam. Iniwan mo ako Gio.”

Gio reached out again, her voice pleading. “Sari, I’m so sorry. plss hayaan mo akong mag paliwanag”

Before she could finish, Sari pulled away, her face contorted with heartbreak. “Hindi ko na kailangan ng paliwanag mo, Gio,” she said, her voice barely a whisper.

Gio’s face fell, and she tried once more, reaching for Sari, but Sari took a step back, shaking her head. With tears streaming down her face, she whispered, “mabuti pang umalis ka nalang ulit,  at huwag ka nang mag pakita  sa'kin Gio.”

Without looking back, Sari turned and walked away, leaving Gio standing alone, her own tears falling as she watched the one she loved slip away, perhaps for the last time.
