At the hospital, after a thorough examination, the doctor approached Sari with a calm expression.
“It looks like a regular viral fever,” he explained gently, “but with her symptoms, we’d like to keep Miyuki here for observation for at least two days, just to be safe.”
Sari let out a sigh of relief mixed with worry, grateful that it wasn’t anything more serious yet anxious at the thought of her little girl needing to stay in the hospital.
She looked over at Miyuki, who was resting on the hospital bed, her small hand clutching Sari’s tightly.
Mira, Scarlet, and Tacia sat beside her, offering silent support. Scarlet squeezed Sari’s shoulder. “Magiging okay din si Yuki, Sari.”
The reassurance from her friends helped Sari relax a bit, though her eyes remained on Miyuki.
“sana nga, hindi ko alam kung anong gagawin ko. Kung may mangyaring masama sa kanya.”Tacia smiled gently. “Huwag mong isipin yan Sari, sabi nga ni Doc diba. Normal na lagnat lang .”
With that, they settled in to support Sari and Miyuki, ready to be there through every moment of the stay.
After leaving the hospital, Mira, Tacia, and Scarlet decided to grab some coffee nearby.
As they sat down, Mira leaned in, her face curious and a bit concerned. “So ito na nga Tacia, nag usap ba kayo ni Mics? Kasi kung alam mo lang ang nangyari sa Xylo kasama ang tatlong alagad niya, pabu-buang talaga.”
Tacia sighed, looking down at her coffee. “Yeah, it was a mess,” she began. “nag usap nga kami, nag try akong iwasan siya. Pero siya yung lumapit"
Scarlet nodded slowly. “Malamang te! ang tagal mong nawala. Syempre na miss ka nung tao.”
Tacia continued, “Alam niyo ang tanga ko. Ilan taon akong nabulag, at pinaniwalaan na kasal na si Mica. Pero.....pero hindi pala yun totoo.”
Mira raised her eyebrows in surprise. “teka, saan mo nalaman yan? Si Mica mag papakasal sa iba? Eh simula nung nag hiwalay kayo. Ikaw lang bukang bibig nun.”
Tacia nodded. “Yeah. Then it was my biggest mistake, na naniwala ako na kinalimutan na ako ni Mica. Na hindi niya na ako mahal.”
Scarlet sighed, leaning back in her chair. “kung alam mo lang. Yung hirap na dinadanas ni Mics, kakahintay sayo.”
FLASHBACK*
(ANASTACIA AND MICA)the scene shifts to a late night years ago, when Mica and Tacia faced each other in a tense, painful confrontation.
They were standing in Mica's dimly lit apartment, emotions raw and spilling over. Mica’s face was flushed with frustration, while Tacia looked away, her jaw clenched as she struggled to hold back tears.
“I don’t get it, Mica!” Tacia finally burst out, her voice trembling with anger. “I thought you’d moved on! You have someone else now, someone you can actually be with instead of waiting around for me.”
Mica’s eyes widened, her own hurt evident. “What are you talking about, Tacia? kahit kailan hindi ko nagawang mag move on sayo! Who told you I’m with someone else?”
Tacia scoffed, looking away as she spoke in a bitter tone. “I heard it from people back home. They said you got married while I was away, that you’re finally happy.”
Mica’s eyes filled with tears, and she took a shaky breath. “That’s not true,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “There’s no one else, Tacia. I told you I’d wait… even if it hurt, even if it took years. But you left without even giving me a choice.”
Tacia turned to her, anger giving way to pain. “And what was I supposed to do, Mica? Stay and keep you waiting, keep you tied down when I didn’t even know when or if I’d come back? That’s not fair to you!”
“But it was my choice to make!” Mica shouted, her voice cracking. “Ginusto kong mag hintay, Tacia. Nag hintay ako ng ilang taon kahit walang kasiguraduhan kung babalik kapa ba. At kung maibabalik pa ba ang nakaraan natin, but you left me without a word, without trusting me enough to decide for myself.”
Tacia looked down, guilt washing over her face. “I thought I was doing what was best for you. I thought… if I cut ties, you’d find someone else, someone who could be there in a way I couldn’t.”
Mica shook her head, her voice softer now, filled with hurt. “But I didn’t want anyone else, Tacia. All I wanted was you.” She wiped a tear away, her face resolute. “kahit kailan hindi sumagi sa isip ko na palitan ka.”
The silence between them was heavy, filled with all the unspoken words and lost moments. Tacia, heartbroken and regretful, finally whispered,
“I’m sorry, Mica. I thought I was protecting you. I didn’t realize I was breaking you instead. Sorry kung nagawa kong piliin ang trabaho kaysa sayo. Sorry kung inuna ko ang sarili ko kaysa sa relasyon natin. Sorry kung hindi ko yun nagawang ipaglaban”
Mica took a step back, her face lined with sadness. “It’s too late now, Tacia. We can’t go back to what we had. But just know that I would have waited for you… no matter how long it took.”
With that, Mica turned away, leaving Tacia standing there, the weight of her choices settling on her shoulders as she watched the one person she had loved walk away.
The memory of that night lingered, a scar for them both that time hadn’t yet healed.
