Miyuki’s hospital room brightened as Mica, Jo, and Cole entered, each of them carrying small gifts and wearing warm smiles.

Miyuki, though pale and tired, lit up when she saw them. She pushed herself up in bed, her usual spark returning as she greeted them with excitement.

“tita nangnang! You guys are here!” she exclaimed.

Jo gave Cole a wide-eyed look, pretending to be overwhelmed. “Miyuki, slow down! I’m already lost!” Jo joked, her hands up in playful surrender.

Cole laughed, equally caught off guard. “Yes, Miyuki, you’re too smart for us! You’re going to have to translate for us,” she teased, glancing at Jo, who nodded in agreement.

Miyuki giggled, shaking her head. “Oh, come on! It’s just English! You can keep up, right?”

Cole smiled, amused but genuinely stumped. “o sige sige, sorry na ba kung mas magaling kapa sa'kin,” she said, turning around as if looking for backup.

“Tacia, tulungan mo naman ako! nakalimutan kong englishera pala itong batang to' ” she called out in mock desperation.

Tacia, who had just entered the room behind them, grinned and walked over. “akala ko ba Atty. Ka?” she said, patting Cole’s shoulder.

“eh, anong kinalaman nun? Atty. Ako hindi English Teacher”

“hina mo naman. Mira palakihin mong englishera and kambal ha. Para tatlo na kayong intindihin ni Cole” Tacia replied

Jo and Cole both sighed with exaggerated relief, making Miyuki giggle even more.

Gio strolled through the hospital hallways, balancing a bag of takeout for her sister Gab.

The usual hum of the hospital surrounded her, a blend of muffled conversations, the steady beeps of medical machines, and the echo of footsteps on the polished floors.

But then, just as she was about to turn a corner, a familiar melody filled the air a song she hadn’t heard in years, one that carried countless memories.

Her breath hitched. It was their song, hers and Sari’s, a melody they used to hum and play together back when everything was simpler.

The unexpected wave of emotion stopped her in her tracks. She scanned the hallway, searching for the source of the music. Her gaze settled on an open door just a few steps away.

Inside, seated at a small piano in the room, was a young girl with delicate features, her fingers gracefully gliding over the keys.

The girl seemed lost in the music, her expression focused and serene, as if the world around her had melted away. There was something strikingly familiar about her.

Gio took a step closer, her heart racing as memories flooded back. She watched the girl, who couldn’t have been more than five or six, play with such confidence and depth, evoking an unexpected sense of longing.

Could it be? But no, it couldn’t be. She had no idea who this child was, or how this girl knew the song that meant so much to her.

For a moment, Gio’s thoughts drifted to Sari, and a soft pang of regret settled in her chest. She tried to push the thought away, reminding herself that those memories belonged to a time long gone.

But here she was, frozen in place, captivated by the music and this mysterious girl who somehow felt like a part of her story, even if she didn’t know why.

As the last notes faded, the girl lifted her hands and looked up, catching Gio’s gaze through the doorway. For a split second, their eyes met, and Gio felt an inexplicable connection, a feeling she couldn’t quite place but couldn’t ignore.

Shaken, she quickly turned away, her heart heavy with questions she wasn’t ready to answer.

Sari  carefully preparing Miyuki’s meal. She added a few finishing touches, hoping to make it feel a little more comforting for her daughter.

Suddenly, there was a knock at the door. She turned, expecting a nurse or perhaps her parents. But as the door opened, she found herself face-to-face with Travis.

“Travis?” Sari’s voice was filled with surprise. “bumalik ka na din pala ng Pinas ?”

Travis stepped into the room, holding a small bag in his hand. “Oo. nung nalaman ko kasi sa kuya mo na may sakit si Miyuki. Ikaw agad naisip ko… so I thought I’d bring something for you, too. You need to eat, Sari.”

Sari managed a small smile, both touched and a little overwhelmed. “Nag abala kapa, Travis. Pero salamat .”

He nodded, looking around at the quiet hospital room. “akala ko nga babalik agad kayo sa Sydney. Hindi mo naman kasi sinabi na may problema ka pala.”

Sari’s gaze softened, a hint of the exhaustion she’d been hiding slipping through. “Pabalik na nga sana kami… nang bigla namang na hospital si yuki. Mas mainam nalang din na andito kami atleast natutulungan ako nila Mom at mga kaibigan ko”

Travis moved closer, offering her a supportive hand. “You’re not alone. Whatever you need, I’m here,” he said gently.

She squeezed his hand gratefully, his unexpected presence a reminder that even in the toughest moments, she still had people by her side.
