Sari paced around her living room, her thoughts racing. It had been a challenging few weeks, and she felt the need to talk to someone who understood her. Tacia had always been that person for her, and Sari needed her now more than ever. She grabbed her phone and sent a quick message.
Moments later, her phone buzzed with a reply.
*Of course! I’m free this afternoon. Where do you want to meet?*
Sari quickly suggested their favorite café, and after confirming the time, she took a deep breath. She knew this conversation wouldn’t be easy, but she felt it was necessary.
A few hours later, Sari arrived at the café, her heart racing with a mix of anxiety and relief at seeing Tacia again. The familiar aroma of coffee and baked goods enveloped her as she stepped inside. She spotted Tacia at a corner table, already waving her over with a bright smile.
“ Sari!” Tacia greeted as Sari sat down. “It’s so good to see you! What’s going on?”
Sari smiled but could feel the tension in her chest. “Thanks for meeting me, Tacia.”
“Tell me about it,” Tacia said, leaning in with genuine concern.
Sari took a deep breath, her fingers fidgeting with the edge of her coffee cup. “It’s Miyuki. She’s been asking about her dad… or, well, her other mom.”
Tacia’s expression shifted to one of empathy. “Ayan na nga. Mahirap talaga yan.”
Sari nodded, feeling the weight of her emotions. “Oo nga eh. Yung mga kaklase niya daw lagi siyang tinatanong tungkol sa dad niya, and now she keeps asking me why she doesn’t have one.
Tacia reached across the table, placing her hand over Sari’s. “You’re doing your best, and that’s what matters.
Sari sighed, tears brimming in her eyes.
Tacia listened intently, her brow furrowing as she thought.
Sari replied, her voice shaky. “But what if she feels abandoned? What if she resents me for not giving her a complete family? Ayokong masaktan siya.”
Tacia nodded, understanding the weight of Sari’s fears. “Sari. Miyuki knows she’s loved, and that’s what matters most. Maybe start by telling her that families come in different shapes and sizes, and that it’s okay to ask questions. You could even share a bit about Gio, but in a way that keeps the focus on your love for her.”
Sari took a deep breath, feeling slightly more at ease.
“Sari what if bumalik siya?,” Tacia asked gently. “kahit anung gawin mo still, she's Miyuki's mom too.
Imposible”
“Well, may point kanaman din.
Sari smiled faintly, grateful for Tacia’s support. “Thank you, Tacia. It really helps to talk about this.”
Tacia squeezed her hand. “You don’t have to. I’m always here for you, Sari. No matter what, we’ll figure it out together.”
Sari felt a warmth spread through her heart. In that moment, she realized that she didn’t have to face the challenges of motherhood alone.
