As Gio walked through the bustling hospital corridors, she felt a mix of anxiety and determination. Each step brought her closer to the pediatric ward where she hoped to see Miyuki, the little girl who had captured her heart without even knowing it.
As she approached the ward, Gio's eyes fell upon a small figure sitting in the hallway. There was Miyuki, her frail frame wrapped in a hospital gown, but her spirit seemed undeterred.
The little fighter was sitting cross-legged on the floor, surrounded by colorful stuffed animals. In her hands was her beloved toy named Yuki, a plush creature that appeared well-loved and slightly worn.
Miyuki was talking animatedly to Yuki, her voice filled with the innocence of childhood, completely immersed in her own world.
Gio felt a pang in her heart at the sight Miyuki looked tired, but there was a spark in her eyes that shone brighter than the sterile walls of the hospital.
Gio knelt down to get a better look at her, a small smile creeping onto her face. “Hii! What's you're name?” she called gently, wanting to approach without startling her.
Miyuki looked up, her face lighting up with recognition. “My name is Miyuki Sazchna Grielle, but you can call me Miyuki!” she exclaimed, her small voice full of excitement. “Do you want to play with us?”
Gio chuckled softly, feeling warmth wash over her. “Of course! What are we playing?”
“We’re on an adventure!” Miyuki declared, clutching Yuki tightly. “Yuki is a brave knight, and we have to save the princess from the scary dragon!”
Gio's heart swelled at the girl's imagination. “That sounds amazing! I want to be a knight too. Can I join your team?”
“Yay!” Miyuki cheered, her tiredness momentarily forgotten as she handed Yuki to Gio. “Here, you can be Yuki’s partner!”
As Gio held the stuffed animal, she felt an overwhelming sense of affection for this brave little girl. “Alright, then! Let’s go save that princess!”
They spent the next few moments lost in their make-believe world, with Miyuki directing the adventure and Gio following her lead.
It was a simple moment, but it reminded Gio of the resilience children often have, even in the face of adversity.
As they played, Gio couldn’t help but admire Miyuki’s spirit. Despite everything she was going through, Miyuki was a warrior in her own right.
The laughter and joy that filled the hallway for those few precious minutes brought a sense of hope to Gio’s heart.
When the playtime came to a natural end, Gio gently set Yuki down beside Miyuki. “You’re a really strong knight, Miyuki. I’m so glad I got to play with you.”
Miyuki’s face lit up with a bright smile. “Thank you, Gio! You’re my best friend!”
As Gio stood up to leave, she felt a renewed sense of purpose. She needed to find a way to reach out to Sari and mend what had been broken between them.
After spending some time with Miyuki in the hallway, Gio felt a warmth in her heart as she made her way to her sister Gab's office. She knocked lightly on the door before entering, her excitement bubbling over as she shared her encounter.
“Ate You won’t believe who I just met!” Gio exclaimed, her eyes shining with enthusiasm.
Gab looked up from her desk, her expression curious. “Who?”
“There’s this amazing little girl in the hallway. Her name is Miyuki, and she’s so brave! We played together for a bit.”
Gab's brow furrowed slightly as she leaned back in her chair. “Miyuki? That’s an interesting name. May alam ka pa ba tungkol sa kanya?”
“pangalan lang natanong ko eh. I just saw her playing, but she looked a bit tired, you know? I thought she might be here for a short stay,” Gio replied, feeling a bit of concern. “Alam mo ba kung anong sakit niya?”
Gab nodded, her expression turning serious. “Miyuki is actually one of the patients that my husband, Dr. Reyes, has been overseeing. She’s been dealing with some pretty serious health issues. I think they’re running tests to determine the best course of treatment.”
Gio’s heart sank a little at the thought of a child facing such challenges. “That’s tough. She seemed really strong, though. Like a little warrior.”
Gab turned to her computer and typed in Miyuki’s name to pull up her medical records. “Let me check her details.”
As she scanned the screen, her expression changed from curiosity to shock. “Miyuki Sazchna Grielle Alvarez. She's the daughter of Sari?” she whispered to herself
Gio’s heart raced, her breath catching in her throat. “bakit? may problema ba?”
Gab watched her sister closely, sensing the turmoil in her heart. “wala, nag Kamali lang ako ng record sa isang patient ko.”
Gio took a deep breath, “Sana makita ko ulit siya. Sobrang gaan ng pakiramdam ko sa batang yun.”
“Mag kikita at mag kikita talaga kayo, trust me” Gab encouraged gently.
