(3 YEAR'S LATER)
Gio’s birthday was in full swing, and the house buzzed with laughter and warmth as friends and family gathered to celebrate.
Sari had planned everything meticulously, filling the space with decorations and a cozy atmosphere that made Gio feel deeply loved. Gio looked around, grateful for the familiar faces and the joy shared by everyone around her.
Across the room, Gio’s sister Gab entered, her belly showing a gentle curve as she carried her second child. Her husband, Cyrus, held their son, Calix, who was playing with his toy truck. Gab’s smile was warm as she walked over to Gio, wrapping her arms around her in a gentle hug.
“Happy birthday, bunso,” Gab said, her voice filled with affection.
Gio chuckled, hugging her back. “Thank you for coming, ate Gab. Kuya Cyrus, at sa gwapo kong pamangkin.”
Just then, Sari’s brother, Zach, arrived with his wife, Kiera, and their lively three-year-old son, Zacharias. The little boy ran into the room, immediately drawn to Calix and his toy truck.
Zach clapped Gio on the back, his grin wide. “Happy Birthday Gio”
“Thank you kuya Zach,” Gio said, her eyes softening as she glanced at Sari across the room.
When it came time to cut the cake, everyone gathered around, singing "Happy Birthday" with infectious enthusiasm. Sari stood beside Gio, their hands intertwined as Gio leaned in to blow out the candles.
The party was lively, filled with laughter and playful shouts as the children ran around, adding their own energy to the celebration.
Among the guests, Gio and Sari’s triplets Griella, Greighly, and Grayszhan were running around with boundless enthusiasm, weaving through groups of adults as they played tag with their cousins and friends.
Nearby, Zheya and Zhandria, Mira and Cole’s ten-year-old twins, watched over the younger kids with a blend of patience and amusement.
Zheya, ever the responsible big cousin, kept an eye on the triplets, occasionally helping them out when their game got a little too wild, while Zhandria cheered them on, encouraging their playful antics.
Miyacah, the sweet daughter of Mica and Anastacia, found herself in the middle of the fun, giggling as she joined in with the tag game.
In another corner, Vaniah Lex, the daughter of Jo and Scarlet, sat at a small table that Sari had thoughtfully decorated with crayons, paper, and coloring books. She was deeply engrossed in coloring, her tongue poking out in concentration as she carefully colored within the lines.
Zacharias and Calix, cousins close in age, had their own little duo going. They’d found a pile of building blocks and were busy constructing towers.
Amid the laughter, Sari walked over to Gio, who was watching the children with a look of pure joy. Sari slid her hand into Gio’s, and they stood together.
As the evening continued, the friends gathered around a small table, sipping drinks and sharing stories, their voices soft as they reminisced.
Cole leaned back, a look of admiration on her face as she spoke. “Akalain niyo, sa dinami dami ng pinagdaanan ni Sari at Gio masasabi ko talagang kayo ang pinaka matatag na nakilala ko”
Mica nodded, her eyes glistening. “Miyuki’s loss was so hard on them, but they never gave up. They found a way to keep her memory alive while moving forward. It’s inspiring.”
Scarlet, who was seated beside Jo, added softly, “They’re living proof that love can heal, even after the deepest hurt.”
Just then, the children ran up to the group, their curiosity piqued by something they had seen on the wall. Miyacah, with wide, inquisitive eyes, held a framed photo she had carefully taken down. It was a picture of a young girl with a radiant smile Miyuki.
