The sun shone brightly as Taylor drove down the familiar roads to Agatha and Rio's house. She gripped the steering wheel, her nerves bubbling up with each passing mile. She had thought about this moment for months-ever since Y/n had mentioned how nice it would be to settle down together after college to start the next chapter of their lives. It was finally time. It is time for Taylor to make a commitment, take a step forward, and show Y/n just how much she means to her.
But first, she had to ask Agatha and Rio for their blessing.
Y/n was out for the day, visiting a few old friends from college, giving Taylor the perfect opportunity to make it all official. Taylor had been planning the proposal for weeks, but this part-the asking for permission-was something she hadn't anticipated being so hard. She had always thought of Agatha and Rio as family, and the last thing she wanted was to make them feel like she wasn't up to the task of taking care of Y/n.
She parked the car and took a deep breath, steadying herself before walking to the front door. As her hand reached for the doorknob, she heard the faint sound of laughter inside. Rio's voice was unmistakable, and Agatha's sarcasm followed closely behind.
A small smile tugged at Taylor's lips. She took one last breath, knocked twice, and entered the house.
Inside, Agatha and Rio were curled up on the couch, coffee mugs in hand, chatting casually. Agatha's eyebrow shot up when she saw Taylor standing in the doorway, her usual confident posture replaced with a slight shift of unease.
"Well, well," Agatha said, her eyes narrowing playfully. "I wasn't expecting you to show up looking like you were about to ask for permission to marry our daughter. What's up, Taylor?"
Taylor chuckled nervously, feeling her stomach twist. "Actually, that's exactly why I'm here," she said, voice slightly wavering. "I wanted to talk to you both about something... important."
Rio raised an eyebrow, noticing the tone in Taylor's voice. She set her coffee down and leaned forward, her eyes narrowing with protective concern. "Important how, exactly?"
Taylor took a deep breath and sat down across from them. Her fingers were tapping nervously against her knees, and she kept her eyes on her hands for a moment, gathering her thoughts.
"I... I want to ask Y/n to marry me," she said, finally looking up to meet their gaze. "And I want to ask for your blessing. I know this is a big step, and I love Y/n so much. I want to make sure that I'm doing it right. That I'm-well-worthy of her."
Agatha snorted, her lips curling into a grin. "Oh, you're worthy, alright. You've put up with her for this long. You must be some kind of saint."
Taylor laughed softly but felt her nervousness creep back in. She glanced over at Rio, who was studying her intently.
Rio's usual tough exterior softened, and she leaned back in her chair, folding her arms. "You're asking for our blessing, huh?" she repeated, her tone thoughtful. "Listen, kid, I'll tell you this much. Y/n is my baby girl. No matter how old she gets, I'll always see her as that. But... I've seen how you treat her. And you've got a good heart. You treat her with care, respect, and love. I can see that."
Taylor exhaled in relief, her heart settling slightly, but Rio wasn't done yet.
"However," Rio added, her voice lowering, "you better keep treating her like that. Because if I hear about you hurting her, I swear, I will haunt you. And believe me, I know a few things about haunting." Her smile was teasing, but her eyes were serious.
Taylor nodded quickly, her cheeks flushing with a mixture of gratitude and nerves. "I promise I'll take care of her. I love her more than anything."
Agatha was watching them both, her arms crossed over her chest, her lips slightly pursed. She was quiet momentarily, which made Taylor's stomach twist in knots again. But then, without warning, Agatha leaned back and sighed.
