The night air was crisp as Taylor drove toward Westview, her hand firmly clasped in Y/n's. The small town was more than just a charming place for them-it was the heart of Y/n's family, the home of her two mothers, Agatha and Rio. Tonight, however, it was about to become even more significant.
Y/n leaned back, watching the lights of the quiet streets. "Westview always feels magical at night," she murmured, her voice soft.
Taylor glanced over, her heart swelling with affection. "That's why I thought tonight should happen here."
Y/n turned, curiosity flickering in her eyes. "What's going on tonight?"
Taylor smiled but didn't answer, instead gently squeezing her hand.
They parked in the town square, where strings of fairy lights draped the trees, casting a golden glow. The sound of the fountain provided a tranquil soundtrack to the evening. Taylor led Y/n to the spot where they had shared countless moments, her heart racing.
"Y/n," Taylor began, taking both of Y/n's hands, "this place has been special to us for so long. And tonight, I want to make it even more special."
Y/n's eyes searched Taylor's, her breath catching as Taylor reached into her pocket and pulled out a small velvet box. As she knelt, Y/n's eyes filled with surprise and emotion.
"From the moment I met you, you've been my everything," Taylor said, her voice steady but full of love. "You've shown me what it means to love unconditionally. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Y/n, will you marry me?"
Tears welled in Y/n's eyes as she nodded. "Yes. Yes, I'll marry you."
Taylor slipped the ring onto her finger, standing to embrace Y/n. Their kiss was filled with the promise of a beautiful future. A few passersby clapped softly, sharing in their joy. Y/n laughed, leaning into Taylor's warmth.
"I can't believe this," she whispered. "It's perfect."
Taylor smiled. "And it's just the beginning."
Excitement bubbling, they headed to Agatha and Rio's home, a place of warmth and love that had shaped Y/n's life. Agatha had raised Y/n alone after Rio left when she was just a year old, and despite the heartache, Agatha had built a strong, loving bond with her daughter. When Rio returned when Y/n was 16, their family found a way to heal and rebuild.
Y/n fished out her key, unlocking the door quietly. The familiar scent of herbs and lavender filled the air. The sounds of light conversation and the clinking of dishes came from the kitchen.
"They're in the kitchen," Y/n whispered, leading Taylor inside.
They peeked around the corner to see Agatha and Rio. Agatha, ever meticulous, was rinsing dishes while Rio wiped down the counters. Four wine glasses sat on the island, two half-filled and two waiting.
"You're late," Agatha said, her back still turned. There was a teasing lilt in her voice. "We've been waiting."
Y/n rolled her eyes, laughing. "How do you always know?"
Rio turned, her smile warm and knowing. "Taylor gave us a heads-up."
Y/n shot Taylor a look. "You told them?"
Taylor grinned, a bit sheepish. "I asked for their blessing last week."
Agatha finally turned, her expression softening as she looked at her daughter. "And, of course, we said yes. You two are meant to be."
Rio came over, wrapping both Y/n and Taylor in a warm embrace. "We couldn't be happier for you."
Agatha poured the champagne she'd been saving, her lips curving into a rare, affectionate smile. "We've been waiting for this moment," she said, raising her glass. "To Y/n and Taylor. To love, family, and a lifetime of happiness."
Rio added, "And to always find your way back to each other."
They clinked glasses, the chime ringing softly in the cozy kitchen. The evening unfolded with laughter and stories, the love between them binding the moment together.
Later, as Y/n and Taylor curled up on the living room couch, Y/n glanced at the ring on her finger. It sparkled in the light, a tangible reminder of the future ahead.
"This is everything," she whispered.
Taylor kissed her gently. "And it's just the start."
From across the room, Agatha's voice rang out. "Don't think you're planning that wedding without us."
Rio chuckled. "You know she's serious, right?"
Y/n groaned playfully. "What have I gotten myself into?"
Taylor smiled. "A family that loves you more than anything."
In that moment, surrounded by love and her mother's unbreakable bond, Y/n knew she was exactly where she was meant to be.
