Author's POV

1 week later

Ishani's gaze darted towards her husband again as he drove the car. The suspicious frown etched on her face was barely hidden. Noticeable to even the blind's eye and definitely noticeable to Ayansh.

"I didn't know you were so taken by my charm that you cannot stop staring", Ayansh mused as he glanced in the rearview mirror as the car came to a stop at the red light. "You wish", Ishani mutters and looks away.

He looks at her concerned. She had been acting off ever since they left the hospital. He studied her form as she stared out of the window. "Are you in pain?", he asked, alarmed. Ishani sighed. To say that Ayansh has been protective of her would be an understatement. He has been hovering and fussing over her to the point of exhaustion.

He wasn't the one getting exhausted. It was her who grew tired of his constant questions and concerns. It was endearing at first, frustrating then and aggravating now. Especially now, since they just left the hospital where the doctor checked her and informed them that she was completely fine. At her utmost prime health. Bullet wound? Healed. Stab wound? Healed. Motor function? Restored. Sensory system? At its best. She was Fine.

She huffed and faced him. "I'm fine Ansh", she said trying to dissipate the concern marring his face and the worry filling his eyes. Her hand found his. "I'm fine", she reassured him and he exhaled in relief. "The doctor confirmed that I'm all healed now. You don't have to worry about me anymore.", she said slowly. "Worrying about you is second nature for me, Isha. Cannot stop that", he spoke as he accelerated the car into motion as the light turned green.

"So, are you gonna tell me what's bothering you or do I need to worry myself sick?", Ayansh glanced at her once.

"You tell me" , she says and he looks at her confused. "You really want me to believe that you came with me just for the check up?", she raised a brow. "Of course I did", he muttered, avoiding eye contact. "Don't lie to me Ayansh Ranawat. What is it that you wanted to tell me that you couldn't tell me back home huh? I know for a fact that you didn't come with me just for the check up. Maa and chachi could've done just fine. So, spill".

He sighs at her words. Ishani watches with a bit of bafflement as Ayansh stops the car at the side of the road. Wordlessly he brings out his phone. He types something then after sometime passes the device to her. The furrow in her brows straightens after a few seconds and her eyes widen as she reads the news articles.
