Ayansh's POV

This fucking idiot

I think as I drive. Ishani sits beside me while Vivaan sits in the backseat. They laugh as Vivaan tells her yet another embarrassing story of my childhood. While my heart flutters seeing her so happy and I am being blessed by the sight of her smile and being honoured with the sound of her laugh, I cannot help but feel embarrassed at the recounts of my childhood endeavours.

Her eyes fill with mirth as she looks at me. "So-so" she tries speaking between her uncontrollable laughs, "He climbed the tree. All the way up. Gathered the fruits and got stuck so high?!" she falls back into fits of laughter and tears fall through her eyes. "Why did you climb if you didn't know how to get back down?!!" she exclaims looking at me. "Well Yuvika wanted it. And Ayansh being the awesome brother that he is did not fucking think before climbing" Vivaan says with admiration. Admiration that reflects in her eyes as she looks at me with a warm smile. My eyes fall on her glossy lips and dark eyes as they smile at me. I cannot help but smile back at her.  Cannot help but be captivated by her caramel eyes. Vivaan shouts and I look forward, alarmed that we almost got hit. I turn the car at the last moment and we all heave a sigh of relief.

"Bhai tum dono ek dusre ko baad mein taado. Aur taadna ho itna hi, toh car mujhe chalane do" Vivaan says and Ishani glares at him but laughs.

The rest of the drive is filled with conversation as she and Vivaan get to know each other.

I look at her as we stop due to the heavy traffic.

When I reached her apartment the door was open and I could hear voices. The moment I had entered her back was to me but her words fell clearly on my ears.

You don't know the kind of man he is. And trust me I wouldn't be marrying him if he was that brainless. Yes he is rude , arrogant and exceedingly stupid. But he has honour and enough brain cells to not expect me to doll up for him. So don't you dare make assumptions about him

While her words weren't exactly the most flattering, I had felt her strong emotions in them. The way she was defending me to her bhabhi, her possessiveness had struck a chord in me. I felt proud. I had felt proud to claim being related to her. I felt admiration. But I had also felt a fierce protectiveness for her. She shouldn't have to justify her choice. Especially to her brother and sister-in-law. I did notice the tension between them. Something was clearly wrong. The look of utter misery in her brother's eyes while he was looking at her and the pain in her voice which she masked with her coldness was very unnerving.
