Ishani's POV
I filled the glass with water and sat on the couch in my apartment. It has been thirty minutes since I reached home. My mind is buzzing with thoughts of what occurred today. After Udaipur, I had thought that Dev Mittal was just a misogynistic man who thought himself superior but the idea that he would do something like this hadn't crossed my mind.
Why did he even go after Yuvika? I think. Even if he had some kind of feud with Mr.Ranawat , which probably would have been all over the news considering how boastful Dev Mittal is, why go after a completely innocent person? The thing I knew for sure now is that Dev Mittal isn't to be messed with. Even though I am more powerful than him, he has resources at hand to pull off something like this. I already have few people of value in my life, and losing them is something I did not want to risk.
I gulped down the water and sighed. The images of Him so close to me made something stir in me. The warmth of his body and the feel of his lips. My fingers touch my lips as I recall our almost kiss. The way his hair fell over his forehead as he leaned towards me, and all I wanted to do was run my hand through those soft locks. The tops two buttons of his shirt were undone and the flash of his smooth skin was enough to make me lose all rational thought. His obsession with suits is gonna be the end of me. They make him look so enticing-
I groan as I pause my train of thoughts. No Ishani, this is not a good idea. This attraction is going to cause many problems. He is way too powerful than me and one wrong step and I will have sacrificed everything I've worked for. The best course of action would be to stay the hell away from him. Yes, I will stay away from him.
I rub my forehead , trying to relieve some stress. If I had not seen that man hiding, then the situation would have gotten much worse. It was quite foolish actually to have stepped in like that, I think. He would've handled it himself. But seeing that man aiming at him made me panic and I did what I thought best. At least he had a gun, I think. I didn't even have mine. Yes I do have a licensed gun that I keep with me for safety but today I hadn't brought it with me. Had my aim been even a centimeter apart or a second late, one of us would have been in a hospital bed now.
I am frustrated by my own impulsiveness. Thank the god that I had skill to back it up. I took self- defense training because well it was really necessary. But that wasn't gonna be enough. So I learnt how to use a gun.
I still remember how after I turned 18 I started training and at 21 the shooting range became my favorite spot. I smile at the fond memory of sneaking out after college and going to the shooting range. The trainer was a good man and we instantly became friends. He knew about my situation and offered to help but I denied.
Now that I remember, I really need to go to a shooting range, I think with a smile.
Author's POV
A surprised expression covered Trilok Ranawat's face at what he just heard. He ended the call after saying that he will think over it. Trilok Ranawat was pleasantly surprised at what had just occurred. It was as if god had finally listened to his wishes.
Aradhana entered her room after finishing some documentation work of her NGO, Maitri. She came inside and found her husband sitting on the bed with a small smile on his face. He was staring at his phone, deep in thought. Aradhana smiled and sat beside her husband who looked up after sensing her presence.
"What has made you so happy?" she asked softly while her hands encircled his arm as she leaned her head on his shoulder. Trilok smiled, pulling his wife closer. "If I will tell you then you would start dancing around the room in happiness" he said. Aradhana straightened and looked at him. "What?" she chuckled playfully. Trilok got up and motioned for his wife to come with him. They left the room.
"Where are we going?" she whispered as they walked throught the dark corridor. "To papa's room" Trilok answered. Aradhana stooped and pulled her husband's hand. He stopped walking and turned to her. "Itni raat ko?" she asked checking the time on her phone. "Subah nahi jaa sakte? Papa so rahe honge" she says. Trilok smiles and nears his wife. He puts his hands on her shoulders, "Jo baat main batane wala hoon usse sab ki neend udd jayegi ab. Tum bass chalo" he said and dragged his wife to his father's room.
To Rajveer Ranawat's room.
Rajveer Ranawat got up from his chair after taking his medicines when he heard the door to his room open. He looked up as he sat on his bed and saw his son and his daughter-in-law enter. He checked the time on the clock on the wall. Why are they here this late, he wondered.
"Papa sorry for disturbing you at this hour but there is something I need to talk to you about" Trilok says as he makes Aradhana sit beside his father. Rajveer turns to his daughter-in-law with a question in his eyes but she just shrugs unknowingly. "What happened? Is everything alright?" Rajveer asks.
"Do you remeber that I introduced you to an old acquaintance of mine at your birthday party? Kailash Agnihotri?" Trilok asks and Rajveer nods as an image of the man resurfaces in his mind.
"Well that day he told me about a project of his that I decided to invest in." Ardhana interrupted her husband, "Is this the same thing you were talking about that day?" she enquires and Trilok nods affirmatively. "I was a bit wary at first because this was the same project that he had introduced 8 years ago. That is when we first met. It did not work out back then and we parted ways. But he is restarting it with new developments. so I have decided to invest in this." Trilok says and pauses.
"I still don't understad why you have come to me for this. You have always taken decisions on your own" Rajveer said. Trilok sighed, preparing himself for their reactions, " The reason behind talking to you this late in the night is because i just got off a call from Kailash. We were discussing some details about the project and the conversation got diverted after some time. The conclusion is that" he took a deep breath " Kailash has proposed a marraige between his daughter and Ayansh. He sent a proposal for Ayansh to marry his daughter, Ishani Agnihotri"
Rajveer and Aradhana were stunned to silence. They could not believe what they just heard. Aradhana got up and hugged ger husabnd with a big smile. But the happiness was soon relaced with worry. She turned to Rajveer, "But papa Ayansh would never say yes to marraige. We brought up the topic once and he shut it off and didnt even talk to any of us for two whole weeks." she said worriedly. She turned to her husband as he spoke up.
"That is why I have come here" he turns to his father "Papa Ayansh aapki baat jarur sunega. If you talk to him I am sure he will agree to this. We can tell him about the project we can ask him to get involved-"
"No" said Rajveer firmly "I am not using business as a means to lure him into marraige." he sighed. " I will talk to him tomorrow and I will try to convince him. But if he still disagrees" he looks at his son "then i am not going to force him."
Trilok and Aradhana both nod in understanding. They leave the room leaving Rajveer in deep thought.
