Chapter 24

Ishani's POV

I woke up feeling my body stiff. The pain was still there but bearable. The bed was empty on the other side. I called out Shreya but no one answered. I turn to the nightstand and find a note there that says that she has gone home to shower and change and that she will come back soon.

I get out of bed and take a bath as carefully as possible, the injuries making it a difficult task. After I freshen up and wear some comfortable clothes , I picked up my phone and was about to call Shreya when the doorbell rings. I go and open the door and an unknown man is standing there with a bag.

"Yes?" I ask. "Are you Ms.Agnihotri?" he asks and I nod. " I am Dr. Nanda . I was sent to check up on you." He says. Maybe shreyansh bhai sent him, I think. I mean he did say that he was going to bring a doctor today maybe he is busy and just sent him. I ask him to come inside. We sit on the couch and he looks at my bandaged hand. He asks me to remove the bandage so he can take a look. I do as told and he examines my hand.

"The cut isn't much deep and you did a good job at bandaging it. I will just change this bandage and give you other ointments." He bandages my hand and hands me the tubes of the medications and instructs me on how to use them. I listen attentively. I get up to grab my purse to pay him but as I get up , my abdomen hurts badly and I wince. The doctor notices this and looks at me with a concerned look. 

"Is it your stomach? Can I take a look?" he asks politely. I nod and motion for him to make space on the couch. The position will be uncomfortable, but there's no way I am going to let this unknown man in my bedroom.

He gets up from the couch and I lay down on it and lift up my t-shirt slightly. His eyes widen a bit as he looks at the condition of my body. He takes a deep breath and looks at me.

"I believe the same ointment was applied to this considering that it hasn't healed much" he says and I nod. He tells me that he is going to have to touch my abdomen to examine me and asks for my permission. He touches my stomach and presses slightly at various places trying to gauge the extent of the injury. I lie trying not to move much.

After he is done he brings out some different medications from his bag and applies it gently to my stomach. After he is done he bandages my abdomen. He prescribes me some pain killers and instructs me about the dosage. I get up slowly and ask him about his fees but he says that it has already been covered. I thank him for his services.

He turns to leave but stops. " I know its not my place to ask but in case if you need legal help" he says pointing to my stomach "I know a good lawyer". I smile at him , " Thank you for your concern but I am alright" I say and he nods and leaves.

I sit down on the couch thinking about everything that has happened.

Why is my father suddenly so obsessed with the Ranawat family? I think. Trilok uncle said that he knew my father from a few years ago and when they did meet at the party they seemed to be in good relations with each other. How does father know him? Were they ever partners in some kind of deal? I need to find out everything I can.

I scroll through my phone trying to kill some time. My fingers halt as I hear the bell ring again. I open the door and see that Shreya and bhaiya have arrived accompanied by another man. I ask them to come in.

" I brought food" Shreya announces as she goes to the kitchen to unpack it. "What is it?" I ask as my stomach growls at the smell. "It is a special breakfast for my special friend" Shreya says smiling at me. "Samosa!!" I exclaim in joy as I see my favourite food. My mouth waters just at the sight of it. "Thank you so much!!" I say as I hug her "You're the best. Its been so long since I had something nice" I sigh as I inhale the aroma.
